Summary

We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Data Platform Administrator who is responsible for the implementation, security, and operational management of the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) in an Amazon Web Services GovCloud environment. This hands-on technical role ensures the platform operates securely, reliably, and cost-effectively while supporting scalable analytics, AI/ML, and data workloads. The administrator manages infrastructure provisioning, governance configuration, operational monitoring, and automation to maintain a compliant and high-performing cloud data platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provision and administer AWS GovCloud infrastructure components including networking, compute, storage, identity management, and monitoring services.
  • Implement secure-by-default platform configurations aligned with agency security standards, including baseline hardening, patch management, and configuration governance.
  • Establish operational monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and health checks; maintain operational runbooks and incident response procedures.
  • Configure and maintain logging, audit trails, and event visibility to support security monitoring and compliance evidence requirements.
  • Manage cloud networking and security patterns including private connectivity, VPC architecture, firewall/proxy constraints, and controlled egress.
  • Implement cost management and optimization controls such as cluster policies, auto-termination, scheduling, and capacity planning.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and platform configuration using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and platform APIs/CLI.
  • Manage change control for platform upgrades, configuration changes, and feature rollouts, including documentation and rollback planning.
  • Support integration with analytics and ecosystem tools such as BI platforms and metadata catalog services.
  • Build and manage proof-of-concept environments with proper isolation, cost controls, and repeatable deployment patterns.
  • Maintain platform documentation including configuration baselines, governance standards, onboarding materials, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Facilitate user onboarding, workspace provisioning, and enablement of analytics teams through documentation and training support.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Hands-on experience administering cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services, including IAM roles and policies, VPC networking, object storage security, logging, and monitoring integration.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience building AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Azure DevOps or GitLab.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code automation using Terraform, APIs, and CLI tools.
  • Strong knowledge of identity and access management including SSO, SCIM provisioning, RBAC, service principals, and least-privilege security models.
  • Experience with AWS security and networking services including PrivateLink, Secrets Manager, Systems Manager, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, S3 policies, cross-account access, and KMS encryption management.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD practices supporting promotion across SDLC environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, incident response, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Not mandatory)

  • Familiarity with SQL and data engineering fundamentals for troubleshooting analytics workloads and data pipelines.
  • Basic programming familiarity with Python or Scala for diagnosing notebook or code-based issues.
  • Experience supporting regulated environments and compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, HIPAA, or SOC 2.
  • Experience defining and managing service levels (SLA/SLO), operational reporting, and vendor coordination.
  • Relevant cloud certification such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
