Low Voltage Infrastructure Engineer
Duration: 12 months contract position
Location: Santa Clara, CA
We are seeking an IT Engineer to support the design, development, and ongoing management of infrastructure within office and laboratory environments in Santa Clara, California. This role partners closely with facilities teams, business stakeholders, network engineers, and hardware engineering teams to deliver scalable infrastructure solutions that support critical technology operations.
The successful candidate will serve as a technical lead for low voltage infrastructure projects, manage network room engineering activities, support construction initiatives, and contribute to the development of global infrastructure standards and engineering practices.
Responsibilities:
- Lead construction engineering efforts for office and laboratory infrastructure projects.
- Partner with facilities teams and business stakeholders to define infrastructure requirements.
- Collaborate with network and audiovisual engineering teams to gather and document technical requirements.
- Define equipment placement within network rooms, including security systems, building automation systems, network racks, and service provider demarcation areas.
- Develop construction documentation and technical specifications for low voltage contractors.
- Participate in contractor bidding processes and support vendor selection activities.
- Conduct routine construction site visits and provide project feedback and status reporting.
- Maintain project closeout records, warranty documentation, and project deliverables.
- Document network rooms and infrastructure assets using asset management platforms, including NetBox and spreadsheet based import tools.
- Serve as the regional point of contact for network room engineering activities.
- Track utilization and capacity of network ports, fiber infrastructure, power distribution units, and related resources.
- Configure and connect intelligent power distribution units and UPS systems while partnering with monitoring teams to establish alerting thresholds.
- Support infrastructure initiatives through equipment installation, rack integration, and cabling efforts.
- Audit IT environments regularly to validate asset records, identify changes, and improve room organization and cable management.
- Collaborate with global engineering team members to enhance infrastructure standards and best practices.
- Lead engineering initiatives by creating roadmaps, defining workflows, planning budgets, and tracking projects through completion.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in telecommunications consulting, construction project management, low voltage infrastructure, or related technical disciplines.
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure components and architectures.
- Ability to lift, install, inspect, and support equipment within network rack environments.
- Demonstrated interest in technology and technical infrastructure disciplines.
- Strong problem solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Availability to collaborate across multiple time zones supporting global teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or comparable education and experience.
- Experience with Autodesk solutions, including AutoCAD and Revit.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam Studio.
