Job Title: Project Manager (Civil Engineering Public Works)

Position Overview

Client is seeking a Project Manager (PE) to support and lead public works roadway projects across Southern California. This individual will be responsible for managing multiple municipal infrastructure projects from design through delivery while serving as the primary client-facing representative.

This is a high-impact role with a clear path toward Director of Engineering, ideal for someone looking to grow into leadership and build a long-term career with a stable, relationship-driven firm.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Delivery

  • Manage 6 8 active projects simultaneously (up to ~10 in varying phases)
  • Oversee full project lifecycle from planning through completion
  • Maintain schedules, budgets, and deliverables across multiple municipal projects
  • Coordinate internal engineering teams and ensure timely execution

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and public agencies
  • Lead meetings, provide project updates, and manage expectations
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships (repeat business focus)

Technical Oversight

  • Review and approve engineering plans and design deliverables
  • Ensure compliance with local agency requirements and public works standards
  • Provide guidance to engineering staff working in Civil 3D

Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) State of California (required to stamp plans)
  • 10+ years of experience in civil engineering
  • Strong background in public works / municipal infrastructure projects
  • Proven experience with roadway projects (paving, widening, sidewalks, ADA improvements)
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (or strong CAD background with ability to ramp quickly)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with municipal clients (city/county/public agencies)
  • Familiarity with Caltrans standards and Greenbook specifications
  • Strong understanding of project management tools and workflows
  • Tech-savvy mindset (experience with tools like ClickUp or similar is a plus)
