Role Overview
We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer / Software Architect to design and build the core architecture of the client’s on-premise optimization platform. You will work closely with our founders and research team to translate proven models and algorithms into a production-ready system that integrates with data-center infrastructure, ingests real-time data, and delivers reliable control.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building foundational systems, working across the full stack of a complex distributed product, and shaping engineering culture at an early-stage deep-tech company.

What You Will Do

• Architect and build the core components of client’s secure on-prem software platform.
• Design data ingestion, storage, and processing pipelines for high-frequency, real-time operational data.
• Develop interfaces for integrating with existing data center systems (e.g., DCIM, BMS, sensors, controls).
• Implement robust APIs, services, and modules that interact with optimization and analytics engines.
• Establish best practices for reliability, monitoring, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Collaborate with our R&D team to operationalize models while ensuring safety, stability, and performance.
• Participate in early hiring decisions and help build out the engineering team as we scale.

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Strong background in system architecture, distributed systems, or on-prem enterprise software.
• Experience building production systems involving real-time data, stream processing, or time-series data.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Rust, C++, or similar languages used in systems-level development.
• Familiarity with industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, SNMP, OPC-UA) OR a willingness to learn.
• Experience deploying software in secure, reliability-critical environments.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with researchers, product teams, and industry partners.
• Comfort working in an early-stage company with high ownership and autonomy.

Nice to Have

• Experience in data centers, industrial IoT, or mission-critical infrastructure.
• Background working with ML/optimization pipelines or digital-twin-style workflows.
• Knowledge of HVAC or energy systems (helpful but not required).
• Prior experience in a startup or founding engineering team.
