A bit about us:

A growing advanced manufacturing and machining organization supporting aerospace and defense customers is expanding into chemical processing operations and is seeking an experienced Chemical Process Quality Engineer. This role will play a critical part in establishing, managing, and sustaining compliance for NADCAP-accredited chemical processes and inspections.

The successful candidate will serve as a technical quality leader for processes including chemical film, anodizing, priming, painting, and fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI), while supporting audits, process controls, training, and continuous improvement efforts.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities:
Support the development, implementation, and ongoing compliance of NADCAP Chemical Processing requirements
Assist with establishing and maintaining customer-specific certifications and approvals
Create, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures, work instructions, and process control plans
Define and oversee quality procedures, inspection methods, and acceptance criteria
Ensure compliance with applicable industry and regulatory standards, including NADCAP, AS9100, OSHA, REACH, and RoHS
Actively support internal and external audits (NADCAP, AS9100, and customer audits)
Assist with the setup and maintenance of job routers, travelers, and work orders
Support the implementation and operation of manufacturing and quality software systems
Develop chemical processing training requirements, schedules, and deliver hands-on training as needed
Collaborate with Maintenance to develop and execute equipment maintenance and calibration schedules
Establish, track, and analyze quality metrics to drive process stability and continuous improvement
Participate in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
Operate within the existing Quality Management System (QMS)
Promote a strong safety-first culture and ensure proper chemical handling and PPE compliance
Perform additional duties as required to support operations

Preferred Experience & Skills:
Hands-on experience with NADCAP-accredited chemical processes
Working knowledge of environmental and chemical safety regulations, including chemical handling and waste management
Experience working safely with industrial chemicals in a manufacturing environment
Familiarity with manual and automated titrations, pH monitoring, and process chemistry controls
Strong documentation, analytical, and cross-functional communication skills

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering or a related technical field preferred
2-5+ years of experience in chemical process engineering or quality engineering
Prior experience in aerospace, defense, or regulated manufacturing environments strongly preferred
Solid understanding of surface treatment processes, including anodizing, chemical film coatings, etching, and cleaning
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Work Environment:
Approximately 50% production floor / 50% office-based
Indoor manufacturing environment with intermittent moderate noise
Occasional travel to customer sites, suppliers, and training locations

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs on an intermittent basis
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work at varying heights
Manual dexterity for basic material handling and equipment interaction
Capability to work safely around forklifts and industrial machinery
Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
