Summary

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Principal Engineer for an Onsite position with a Leading Biotechnology Company located in Thousand Oaks, CA. This is a 36+ month contract opportunity.

This role supports Clinical and Commercial Plant Automation programs and Capital projects within the Facilities & Engineering Automation team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of various automation platforms, integration between different systems, and experience in the lifecycle management of manufacturing process controls and instrumentation technologies within a life sciences environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Support automation capital project software development testing and commissioning activities
  • Support day to day operations of the plant for automation related issues including on-call rotation every 7-8 weeks
  • Support the Plant Automation team and participate in the preparation and implementation of detailed design, scope, and schedule in partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Support the implementation of new automation solutions including DeltaV DCS, Rockwell PLC, HMI, and SCADA related hardware, software, and network infrastructure
  • Support post-implementation activities including hyper-care support, training, revising SOPs, delivering spare parts lists, and updating asset management systems
  • Ensure compliance with company Engineering and Operational standards, specifications, and procedures
  • Support new continuous improvements by performing automation engineering assessments and implementing system configuration changes
  • Support a safe working environment by complying with all pertinent environmental health and safety rules and regulations

Requirements:
  • Background within Life sciences, specifically Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering
  • Direct programming experience in Rockwell, Emerson, HMI, and/or Allen Bradley
  • Life Sciences GMP experience
  • Experience with supporting automation capital projects (qualification, testing)
  • Doctorate degree and 3 years of experience OR Masters degree and 5 years of experience OR Bachelors degree and 7 years of experience OR Associates degree and 12 years of experience OR High school diploma / GED and 14 years of experience

Desired skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Biotech Engineering, or related life science engineering
  • Knowledge and experience in capital project lifecycle management within a GMP biopharmaceutical production facility
  • Five or more years of combined experience with Emerson Delta-V DCS and Rockwell Automation SCADA and PLC Platforms
  • Experience with ABB Robot and Mitsubishi roller bottle machines
  • Electronic Batch Reporting Systems design and implementation experience
  • Experience with Process Control Network design and Virtual Infrastructure design
  • System Integration experience using OPC, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and DeviceNet technologies
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as 21 CFR Part 11, ASTM 2500, S88, S95, and GAMP

Pay range: up to $61.41 per hour
