Locations: Denver, CO | Minneapolis, MN |
Work Hours: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM/ Standard hours.
Contract duration: 12 months
Location, Schedule & Logistics
Preferred locations are Denver or Minneapolis; remote candidates will also be considered. This is a standard business-hours role with infrequent overtime. Travel is infrequent (up to three times per year) and reimbursable.
Required Skills & Experience
- 7 9 years of experience as a Data or Data Warehouse Architect.
- Strong experience with data modeling, ETL/data movement platforms, and cloud-based architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks and AWS.
- Experience designing architectures for secure or segmented network environments.
- Ability to modernize legacy data warehouse solutions.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
Nice-to-have experience includes utility or energy data environments, PI/OSI PI, SCADA, and relevant AWS or Databricks certifications.
Role Overview:
This role supports the enterprise Data, AI, and Integrations Architecture organization and focuses on exposing operational technology (OT) data sources for secure and scalable consumption. The Data Warehouse Architect III will act as a senior data architect embedded in OT-related efforts, driving modernization of data pipelines and patterns across the enterprise.
Scope of Work & Responsibilities
- Architect and modernize data solutions for OT data sources including sensor, time-series, and event-based data.
- Design secure data pipelines for highly sensitive data residing in segmented network environments.
- Enable reusable, consumable data products rather than point-to-point integrations.
- Drive modernization away from antiquated data warehousing patterns.
- Leverage Databricks, AWS, ETL/data movement platforms, and cloud networking concepts.
- Create, present, and defend architectural diagrams and artifacts through architecture review boards.
- Partner closely with OT teams, business data owners, engineers, and enterprise architecture teams.
What a Typical Day Looks Like
The architect operates within the client s homeroom/classroom model, collaborating daily with the data architecture team while embedding with OT and business teams. Responsibilities include solution design, architectural reviews, stakeholder collaboration, and driving alignment between enterprise data strategy and operational constraints.
Team Environment
The role supports an eight-person data architecture team. The consultant will not manage people but will serve as a technical leader and influencer across teams. Regular weekly team meetings and biweekly one-on-ones are part of the structure.
Ramp-Up Expectations
Day 1 expectations include reviewing and understanding architecture and network diagrams, OT data sources, and security constraints. Within the first month, the architect is expected to document gaps, identify data demand, and propose architectural options and modernization approaches.
