The Role

The Application Engineer plays a critical role across the customer lifecycle, providing technical expertise in both pre-sales and post-sales activities. You will partner closely with Sales, Engineering, and Service teams to deliver innovative contamination monitoring solutions, support customer success, and identify new business opportunities within semiconductor and advanced manufacturing environments.

Job Responsibilities

Pre-Sales support:
  • Partner with Sales to understand customer needs and deliver technical presentations and solution recommendations
  • Design and execute product demonstrations and competitive evaluations
  • Assess technical risks and feasibility of proposed solutions
  • Support proposal development and application strategy

Post-Sales support:
  • Lead or support product installation, commissioning, and customer onboarding
  • Troubleshoot complex technical and process issues affecting product performance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve customer challenges and improve outcomes
  • Develop and deliver customer and internal training programs
  • Create internal and external marketing materials, such as technical documentation, knowledge-sharing, application notes, conference papers, webinars, blogs, etc.

Strategic:
  • Analyze customer challenges to identify new applications and business opportunities
  • Gather and interpret competitive intelligence to inform product and market strategy
  • Partner with global Application Engineering teams on best practices and innovation

Other:
  • Comply with EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) policies and procedures set forth by the government, industry, customer, and company.
  • Continuously evaluate processes for improvements in efficiency, quality, and safety

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Environmental Science, or a related technical field, and
  • 2+ years of experience in semiconductor, contamination control, or a related technical environment, or
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience communicating technical concepts to customers or cross-functional teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with semiconductor processes, yield improvement, or facility monitoring systems (FMS)
  • Familiarity with particle measurement or contamination control technologies
  • Experience in a customer-facing or field applications role
  • Project management experience or certification
  • Experience developing technical content (presentations, application notes, publications)
  • Fluency in other languages is a plus

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • This is an "in-office" position 60% of the time. The remainder of the time you may work from home. This percentage target with the actual schedule to be determined in conjunction with the Manager's expectations for the position.
  • This role primarily operates in an office/lab/manufacturing environment. Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods of time
  • Travel up to 25-40% (domestic and occasional international) to support customers and demonstrations
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. may be required

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive base salary range: $95,000 - $110,000, depending on experience
  • Performance bonus eligible
    • Our compensation philosophy: we offer competitive pay based on market data, including local, national, and industry benchmarks. For new hires, offers are generally within the established min- to mid-point of the range for the role, with flexibility to recognize experience, skills, and education.
