Job Title: Senior Enterprise Security Architect

Location: Austin, TX / San Antonio, TX (Hybrid – 3 Days Remote, 2 Days Onsite)

Work Arrangement:

 Hybrid role requiring onsite presence two days per week in either Austin or San Antonio based on business needs

 12-month contract engagement (2080 hours expected)

 Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.

 Executive-level communication and architecture governance leadership required

 Role supports statewide cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection initiatives

Position Overview:

The Texas Cyber Command (TXCC) is seeking a Senior Enterprise Security Architect with extensive experience leading architecture in large, complex, multi-domain environments. This role operates with statewide mission impact and executive visibility, influencing cybersecurity posture, resilience strategy, and operational readiness across Texas public-sector entities.

The selected candidate will define and govern enterprise cybersecurity and hybrid infrastructure architecture across SIEM, security telemetry, network detection, cloud platforms, and resilience frameworks. This role exceeds standard enterprise architecture functions and includes high-consequence decision authority, procurement influence, and formal governance leadership.

The ideal candidate will bring 15+ years of enterprise architecture experience (20+ years preferred), including deep cybersecurity architecture expertise and experience operating within government or public-sector environments.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Define and govern statewide cybersecurity and hybrid infrastructure architecture

·         Lead architecture governance processes and participate in review boards

·         Produce formal design documentation and architecture decision artifacts

·         Adjudicate cross-agency technical risk tradeoffs and prevent architectural debt

·         Design and oversee security telemetry pipelines and SIEM architectures

·         Architect network visibility and detection solutions aligned to NIST-based frameworks

·         Support major procurements and vendor evaluations, shaping requirements and assessing architectural risk

·         Influence high-value technology investments impacting long-term interoperability and resilience

·         Collaborate with engineering teams to validate and operationalize architectural designs

·         Provide executive briefings on high-consequence technical decisions

Mandatory Qualifications:

·         15+ years of Enterprise Architecture experience in large, complex environments

·         12+ years of IT Infrastructure Architecture experience (on-prem and hybrid platforms)

·         10+ years of Enterprise Cybersecurity Architecture experience

·         10+ years producing technical design documentation and formal decision artifacts

·         8+ years of Architecture Governance and review board participation

·         Demonstrated experience with enterprise-scale, multi-domain environments

Preferred Qualifications:

·         20+ years of experience in Enterprise and Security Architecture

·         Experience working with a Texas State Agency

·         Experience briefing executive leadership and influencing major technology procurements

·         8+ years designing security telemetry pipelines and SIEM architectures

·         8+ years experience with cloud and virtualization platforms in hybrid environments

·         7+ years designing network visibility and detection architectures

·         7+ years working with NIST-aligned risk management and security frameworks

·         Government or public-sector cybersecurity experience
