Job Description:

We are seeking an Application Modernization Architect with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Open Liberty, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS to lead large-scale modernization projects. The ideal candidate will modernize legacy Java applications into scalable, cloud native microservices deployed on AWS and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities:

Assess legacy Java/J2EE applications and define modernization strategies (re platform, re architect, containerization).
Architect microservices-based solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Open Liberty.
Lead application decomposition, domain modeling, modernization roadmaps, and API design.
Modernize legacy WebSphere/Liberty workloads to Open Liberty and containerized deployments.
Design and implement containerized solutions using Docker and orchestrate workloads on Kubernetes (EKS preferred).
Architect and implement AWS solutions using EKS, ECS, API Gateway, Lambda, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, IAM, etc.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines using CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
Ensure cloud architectures meet AWS security, scalability, observability, and reliability best practices.
Provide technical leadership across modernization teams

Experience Required:

14+ years of relevant professional experience in full-stack Java development .
Key Skills and Knowledge:
Solid experience in Java application development and architecture.
Mandatory experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Open Liberty.
Hands-on expertise with Docker, Kubernetes (EKS preferred), and AWS cloud services.
Proven experience modernizing monolithic Java/Spring/J2EE applications to microservices.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, integration patterns, and cloud-native architecture principles.
Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline.
Excellent communication, solution design, and architectural leadership skills.

Preferred

Knowledge of AWS networking, IAM, and security architecture.
AWS Certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Associate/Professional).
