Senior Datacenter Engineer

Location: Parsippany, NJ (Onsite)
Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Datacenter Engineer to design, build, scale, and maintain enterprise data centers and colocation facilities supporting a high-performance securities trading environment. This is a hands-on, onsite role requiring strong technical expertise, ownership, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure teams.

The ideal candidate will work closely with Network, Server, Facilities Engineering, Market Data, and Trading teams, as well as external data center operators, colocation providers, hardware vendors, and telecom partners to ensure reliable, secure, and highly available infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data center infrastructure following industry best practices.
  • Plan and coordinate equipment deployments across regional data centers and colocation facilities.
  • Manage procurement, shipping, inventory, and lifecycle of hardware, cabling, and spare parts.
  • Install, cable, configure, and troubleshoot server and network infrastructure.
  • Deploy Linux-based operating systems using PXE environments.
  • Perform copper and fiber optic cabling installations, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain high standards for data center security, organization, documentation, safety, and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate with vendors, smart hands providers, and telecom carriers for installations and maintenance.
  • Support regional and remote data center operations across the Americas.
  • Travel frequently between corporate offices and colocation facilities as required.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise or colocation data center environments.
  • Strong understanding of data center operations, infrastructure, and industry best practices.
  • Experience with structured copper and fiber optic cabling standards.
  • Solid networking fundamentals with the ability to troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity issues.
  • Strong Linux administration skills.
  • Experience deploying systems using PXE boot environments.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise server and networking hardware including:
    • Dell Servers
    • Cisco Networking
    • Arista Switches
    • Ciena Equipment
  • Experience using fiber testing and certification tools such as:
    • EXFO
    • VIAVI
  • Ability to independently design, deploy, test, and troubleshoot infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and project coordination skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and drive process improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bash or Python scripting experience.
  • Experience supporting financial services or low-latency trading environments.
  • Experience working with colocation providers and smart hands services.
  • Knowledge of hardware inventory management and logistics.
  • Experience coordinating multiple infrastructure projects simultaneously.
