NOTE: This position is currently eligible for telecommuting within the state of Texas. However, this is subject to change, and the position may transition to an inoffice assignment at a designated work location within the state based on space availability and agency needs. Must attend meetings/training at headquarters in Austin, TX as required by management.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Our mission at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is to serve, protect and advance the citizens and industries in the state with quality motor vehicle related services. We are a dynamic state agency dedicated to customer service, consumer protection and the success of motor vehiclerelated industries.

Performs highly advanced (seniorlevel) computer programming work in support of TxDMV, Information Technology Services Division (ITSD). Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Writes or modifies existing Salesforce cloud code and configuration of the application based upon business requirements or verbal instruction from ITSD management with the objective of meeting agency needs in one or more agency divisions/units. Responsible for assessing level of effort for development work. Trains others through design specifications or product demos. Work may require contact with other governmental agencies. Employees at this level may independently perform the most complex programming work and may review and evaluate programming efforts in relation to system requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education

Graduation from an accredited fouryear college or university with major in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or a related field.

Experience

Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience performing systems analysis and programming in Salesforce/Apex.

Five (5) years experience with complex SQL queries.

Three (3) years of experience leading technical initiatives or teams (e.g., design authority, code reviews, major releases)

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Salesforce Sales Cloud product knowledge and at least 10 years of Salesforce development experience.

Experience implementing and developing in Apex, LWC, Visualforce, and Java.

Experience working with large data sets and bulkification.

Competency in other languages / development (XML, Flex, JavaScript, .NET, SQL, C++, SOAPbased web services.

General web development experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript.

Proficient with Microsoft Visual Studio, Salesforce Lightning Design System and the Salesforce development lifecycle.

Experience with TxDMV elicensing applications preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Designs and writes programming code in Salesforce/Apex at a level that solves programming issues independently; design, develop, unit tests, debugs, documents, and implement computer programs.

Develops Apex (classes and triggers), Visualforce, (based on specific requirements) to extend Salesforce in support of business requirements, including but not limited to Custom User Interface development, including Visualforce pages/Lightning pages, Aura Components and Lightning Web Components, and support integrations with Salesforce APIs to integrate with other systems used in the organization adhering to Salesforce best practices, maintain code documentation, and write / maintain test classes for all custom development.

Integrates and maintains business applications to Salesforce, such as Conga, Sertifi, Capstorm, Glance, FOIAexpress, Google Forms, JAVA Spring Boot, Webservices.

Serves as project lead for projects including software releases, application updates, and new applications. Plans, estimates, schedules, coordinates, and controls application projects.

Creates work breakdown structure (WBS) and assigns tasks. Reports schedule and status to management. Reviews project work for quality. Assesses resource needs for project, makes assignments, monitors status, and reports regularly to management.

Oversees and participates in TxDMV enterprise projects that require coordinating, planning, and scheduling during project development and implementation stages. Works with internal and external customers to complete projects.

Writes Function Requirements Specifications (FRS) for software development, from sources including Information Technology Resources Requests (ITRR), Business Requirements Documents (BRD), business process models, end user and other stakeholder input.

Executes or leads execution of large test plans/scenarios for system/integration testing, performance testing, load and stress testing, as a part of the overall test and quality assurance plan for a release of software.

Provides technical and analytical support for applications; performs investigative research into problems and other questions regarding applications software during and outside of normal business hours.

Complies with all defined policies and procedures for software development, testing, implementation, and support; provides feedback and input for improving defined policies and procedures.

Identifies and analyzes the technology requirements to support new and existing business processes for internal and/or external customer needs.

Monitors and analyzes applications software and associated hardware to assess performance, identifying needs and/or opportunities for improvement in a costeffective manner.

Analyzes and assesses business areas for the specific purpose of introducing or enhancing the area via the use of information technology.

Work independently.

May travel to represent the department up to 5% of the time. Travels by car (may include flying).

May include overnight travel. May require extended working hours and some evenings and weekends, as needed.

Required to attend work regularly and adhere to approved work hours in accordance with department policies and procedures.

Performs related work as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of programming and systems analysis; computer operations procedures and systems; and computer programming languages.
