Electrical / Low Voltage Engineer- focus on networking and cable troubleshooting
Company provides commercial and industrial electrical and low-voltage solutions, supporting customers with electrical systems, structured cabling, fiber optics, security systems, access control, network infrastructure, and system integration.
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Electrical / Low Voltage Engineer who can work independently, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and provide excellent service directly to customers.
Position Summary
The Electrical / Low Voltage Engineer will be responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, maintaining, and supporting electrical, low-voltage, networking, and computer-based systems at customer locations.
This position requires someone who is technically strong, comfortable working directly with customers, and capable of diagnosing and solving problems independently. We are looking for someone who can walk into a customer environment, assess the situation, determine the root cause of an issue, and develop a solution without requiring constant supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and support electrical and low-voltage systems
- Configure and troubleshoot network-connected equipment, devices, and systems
- Work with computers, networking hardware, switches, routers, cabling, and related technology
- Diagnose hardware, software, connectivity, wiring, and system integration issues
- Troubleshoot problems independently and determine appropriate solutions
- Support structured cabling, network infrastructure, security, access control, and other low-voltage technologies
- Perform system testing, commissioning, configuration, maintenance, and repairs
- Read and interpret technical documentation, wiring diagrams, schematics, and system specifications
- Communicate directly with customers regarding technical issues, recommended solutions, and project status
- Provide professional, responsive customer service while working at client locations
- Document completed work, configurations, troubleshooting steps, and system changes
- Coordinate with internal technicians, electricians, customers, and other project stakeholders when necessary
- Take ownership of technical problems from initial diagnosis through final resolution
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant electrical, low-voltage, controls, networking, field engineering, or systems integration experience
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting networks, computers, and connected equipment
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, connectivity, switches, routers, and Ethernet
- Experience with commercial or industrial electrical and/or low-voltage environments
- Ability to diagnose technical issues without requiring constant direction or supervision
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Comfortable interacting directly with customers in commercial and industrial environments
- Ability to manage priorities and complete assignments independently
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Must reside within approximately 30 miles of Detroit, Michigan
- Must be able to successfully complete a job-related physical examination and meet the physical requirements of the position

We need someone who combines electrical and low-voltage knowledge with strong networking and computer skills. Just as importantly, this person must communicate well with customers, take ownership of problems, and be dependable without needing constant oversight.
