Job Title: Epic Caboodle SME

Location: Remote

Duration: 9+ months

Responsibilities

Clarity-to-Caboodle Mapping

·         Identify the Caboodle tables and columns that correspond to the Clarity tables referenced in the report inventory

·         Identify gaps where Clarity fields or logic are not available in Caboodle, and recommend how to close them

·         Recommend how to convert Clarity-based business rules and calculations to Caboodle

·         Support Perficient data analysts and the client team in mapping and source-to-target validation

Databricks & Gold-Layer Design

·         Recommend the Caboodle tables to bring into Databricks for each migration wave

·         Advise clients on gold-layer design, including grain, flattening, reusable flags and metrics, and naming standards

·         Help define data domains that support reporting, semantic models, and future AI use cases

·         Contribute to gold-layer design standards and data domain specifications

Advisory & Collaboration

·         Serve as the primary Caboodle resource for Perficient data engineers and Power BI developers

·         Advise the client's data team, explaining tradeoffs and recommendations clearly

·         Flag data issues and risks early to keep the pilot and migration waves on schedule

·         Account for a future move to Epic Cogito Cloud in design recommendations

Qualifications

Required

·         7+ years of experience in healthcare data, reporting, or BI, including 4+ years working with Epic reporting data

·         Deep, hands-on expertise with the Epic Caboodle data model, including its fact and dimension tables

·         Strong working knowledge of Epic Clarity tables, relationships, and reporting logic

·         Experience mapping or converting Clarity-based reports and logic to Caboodle

·         Advanced SQL skills, with the ability to read, write, and tune complex queries

·         Strong dimensional modeling skills, including star schema design and table grain

·         Experience in handling PHI in compliance with HIPAA and client security policies

·         Strong communication skills, with the ability to advise client teams who make final decisions

Preferred / Nice to Have

·         Epic Caboodle Data Model or Clarity Data Model certification

·         Experience with Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog

·         Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Power BI semantic models, or Direct Lake

·         Experience adding custom columns or tables to Caboodle

·         Ability to read Crystal Reports logic and embedded SQL

·         Epic Willow (pharmacy) reporting experience

·         Familiarity with Epic Cogito Cloud

·         Experience at an academic medical center or large health system

Educational Qualifications:

• Required - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or closely related or equivalent.
• Preferred - Master’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Big Data or Analytics or equivalent.

Travel:

·   Open to travel based up on the nature of the engagement.
