Description

Rochester Electronics, LLC seeks a Process Engineering Group Leader to work in Newburyport, Massachusetts. This position is of a senior engineer, who leads an assembly engineering team with responsibilities for establishing high quality technology capabilities, sustaining engineering of the assembly operations and for making yield, cost and cycle time improvements for the assembly manufacturing areas. Salary $141,606/Year. Perform the following duties:

Duties:
  • Implement package and assembly technology per the company's timelines with cost and cycle time expectations.
  • Develop and successfully execute all manufacturing activities in cost improvement and process projects within the Product Development Process with a focus on efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Work cross-functionally to improve overall processes, methodologies, and systems that affect operations.
  • Maintain workflow by completing production plans, schedule/assign personnel, set work result goals, designate priorities, monitor progress, revise schedules, resolve problems, and report results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Conduct root cause analysis using Six Sigma and other methodologies, such as FMEA, 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, BOM's, Visual Aid, Work instruction, and control plans, and develop corrective actions; may include presentation to a Review Board.
  • Support different projects with industrial engineering activities to ensure KPI be maintained and on track.
  • Participate in new equipment buy-off and introduction, verify functionality and documentation complete.
  • Review processes for throughput and cost efficiency improvements, set processing variables, observe control points, develop reporting procedures and systems, facilitate corrections to malfunctions within process control points; may include interaction with vendors and suppliers to accomplish.
  • Respond to team requests, approve timecards, and resolve personnel issues through coaching, counseling, initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Interview, select, onboard, train, develop, and mentor employees for, including, but not limited to, technical skill.
  • Ensure equipment is operational, respond to repair needs, and evaluate new equipment.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, and maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, and answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned.
  • Work cross functionally across other Rochester departments to support sales and after sales support of Rochester goods and services.
  • Work with supplier and vendor teams to ensure robust assembly knowledge, stays in touch with worldwide assembly technology evolution as well as equipment / process technologies available.
  • Provide training within department as well as to other departments on assembly tools, techniques, capabilities and marketing of our capabilities.
  • Manages a team of engineers and technicians as well as engineering work area leaders.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical or mechatronic engineering, or an equivalent foreign degree.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in assembly manufacturing, including 2 years in position(s) that required leading others and project management.
  • Skills:
    • Assembly engineering techniques and equipment;
    • Engineering and statistical techniques;
    • Mentoring of engineers;
    • Evaluation of equipment, materials, and techniques; and
    • Understanding of high quality and strives for continuous improvement.
  • Represent, support, and encourage the Rochester culture, as well as ensures their team follows work practices, specs and policies set forth by the company.
  • In depth knowledge of wire bond equipment required, with direct experience with ASM Eagle and/or KnS ICONN systems.
  • Demonstrable knowledge on wafer processing, Wafer Saw, Die Attach, and Wire Bond process equipment, including preventative maintenance, calibration, and sustainment.
  • Depth knowledge on problem solving techniques like 8D methodology to help Rochester team resolve and avoid customers complaints related to quality.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment. Ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision;
    • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects; and
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office software suite; knowledge of Minitab, and/or JMP.
  • Understanding of principles of cost of goods sold and development of process improvements to increase cost effectiveness of manufacturing.
  • Demonstrate positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Fluency in English.
