Job Description: Guidewire Solution Architect // Remote accepted.
Location: Markham, ON (Remote flexibility available)
Compensation: Up to CAD 240K per annum (higher for exceptional candidates)
Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Guidewire Solution Architect to define and deliver enterprise-grade architecture solutions across underwriting, policy, billing, claims, and commercial insurance workflows. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic vision to ensure solution integrity, compliance, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Solutions & Assurance
- Architect and deliver solutions for the Guidewire Insurance Suite (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, BillingCenter, Contact Manager) ensuring availability, security, resilience, and performance.
- Develop migration strategies, including legacy policy conversion, with cost-benefit and risk analysis.
- Ensure end-to-end solution integrity across platforms and transition states.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Identify risks, propose mitigation strategies, and lead post-implementation reviews.
Technical Leadership
- Stay current with Guidewire platform advancements and recommend adoption of new features, including Guidewire Cloud Platform.
- Define and enforce architecture best practices and standards.
- Produce and peer-review design artifacts supporting service, security, and engineering needs.
- Mentor and coach team members, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing.
Design Community &
Collaboration
- Contribute to the Solution Architecture community by leading initiatives that enhance design practices.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and technology partners.
- Continuously develop technical skills to leverage emerging technology trends.
Problem Solving & Change Leadership
- Drive project-based problem solving, applying technical expertise to resolve issues.
- Adapt proactively to change, influencing design decisions to meet evolving business needs.
Qualifications & Expertise
Commercial Insurance Expertise
- Extensive experience in underwriting, policy lifecycle, rating, endorsements, renewals, audits, and claims.
- Strong understanding of commercial product structures (multi-location, multi-line, schedules, packages, additional interests, risk-specific coverages).
- Knowledge of submission intake modernization, including automated data extraction and routing.
Guidewire & Integration
- Skilled in Guidewire PolicyCenter, Workbench, and ecosystem integrations (CRM, broker systems, document repositories, pricing engines, APIs).
- Hands-on experience with Guidewire Cloud Platform and migration strategies.
- Expertise in APD and Integration Framework for solving business problems.
- Proven experience in integration architecture design and implementation.
Digital & Cloud Technologies
- Knowledge of digital technologies, cloud computing, and modern development practices.
- Certified in public cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
Project & Technical Leadership
- Strong grasp of Agile methodologies and end-to-end project lifecycle.
- Broad technical expertise with ability to apply solutions across diverse scenarios.
- Financial acumen for business case development and design decisions.
- Ability to balance strategic direction with short-term goals.
Soft Skills & Leadership
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong leadership qualities with personal impact and influence.
- Ability to mentor, coach, and foster collaboration across teams.
