Sr Data Solutions Engineer - Spark and Databricks (US Cit to pass Security Clearance)

We are seeking to hire several Senior Data Solutions Engineers with Spark and Databricks expertise to join our team working on new multi-year awards we have within large Federal Gov’t agencies in the Washington, DC area.  These roles are 100% remote.

Being a US Cit and having a Public Trust, MBI or DoD Secret clearance or higher (can start with an interim Secret) is required for working on these programs.

This position pays a strong salary package with full benefits (including choice of healthcare plans, dental, vision, life insurance, 3 weeks PTO, 11 Paid Federal Holidays, and a matching 401k).

An option for working on an hourly rate is also available for those not needing a full benefits package.

Role

Senior Data Solutions Consultant will help customers design, implement, and optimize modern data solutions. This role combines hands-on data engineering expertise with strong customer engagement skills. You’ll act as both a trusted technical advisor and a creative problem-solver—someone who can bridge business needs with cutting-edge data technologies.

Key Responsibilities

·        Partner with customers to architect and implement data solutions leveraging Spark, Databricks, and modern cloud ecosystems.

·        Translate complex business requirements into scalable, efficient data architectures and pipelines.

·        Conduct technical workshops, solution demos, and proof-of-concept implementations.

·        Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and sales teams to ensure successful customer outcomes.

·        Diagnose performance, reliability, and usability issues, and propose data-driven solutions.

·        Stay ahead of emerging technologies, particularly in AI-driven and agentic automation approaches.

·        Mentor internal teams and customers on best practices in data engineering and solution design.

Required Qualifications

·        3–10 years of experience in the technology industry, with a specific background and expertise in data engineering or data analytics.

·        Previous experience working on a Federal Gov’t program requiring a Security Clearance. 

·        2+ years in a technical customer-facing role (solutions engineering, consulting, pre-sales, or similar).

·        Hands-on technical proficiency in Spark, Databricks, and at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).

·        Strong SQL and Python skills; experience building and optimizing large-scale ETL or ELT pipelines.

·        Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts in clear, business-friendly language.

·        Demonstrated creativity and adaptability—a bias toward action and an “agentic-forward” mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

·        Experience integrating emerging technologies such as AI-powered data tools or intelligent automation.

·        Background in pre-sales engineering, solution architecture, or customer success in a data-centric environment.

·        Professional certifications in Spark, Databricks, or major cloud platforms.

·        Highly preferred to already possess a Public Trust, MBI, DoD Secret or Top Secret level clearance.  Other roles can also allow for being a US Cit and clearable as well.
