Responsibilities
The PostgreSQL DBA will serve as the primary expert for managing, maintaining, and optimizing PostgreSQL database environments to ensure ongoing performance, high availability, and reliability on cloud platforms.
With a minimum of 8 years in database administration—at least 6 of which are focused on PostgreSQL—and
mandatory
hands-on experience managing AWS RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL environments,
the DBA will play a pivotal role in our organization's data infrastructure.
This position is responsible for overseeing the full database lifecycle, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and continual tuning of PostgreSQL instances, both on-premises and within AWS.
The DBA will design and execute backup and recovery plans, implement robust disaster recovery strategies, and manage security configurations and access for sensitive data.
In addition, the role includes planning and administering database replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions, leveraging both traditional approaches and AWS-native offerings.
The DBA will automate maintenance and operational tasks through scripting and AWS automation tools to maximize efficiency and consistency.
Collaborating closely with development teams, the DBA will contribute to schema design, review SQL code for performance, and provide input on application database integration.
Timely resolution of database incidents, proactive capacity planning, and maintaining meticulous documentation are also central to the role.
