Responsibilities:
* Serve as a Confluent Cloud and Kafka team member to design / install / deploy / administer the platform.
* Provide 24x7 support when on call.
* Partner with architecture team to drive platform alignment to modern architecture practices.
* Patch, create Roadmaps, and assist junior engineers
* Build automation for install and platform management activities, such as restarts, patching, and other scenarios.

Requirements:
* 5+ years in platform engineering and management involving Middleware technologies with a focus on Confluent Cloud and On Prem Kafka
* 3+ years of experience with Installation, configuration, and administration of Confluent Cloud or On Prem Kafka
* 2+ years of experience with Installation, configuration and administration of Confluent Kafka Connect
* 3+ years of experience with UNIX and LINUX operating systems, storage environments, file systems, and network protocols.
* 3+ years of strong understanding of distributed systems using messaging platform
* 2+ years of creating great documentation that enables other team members to learn and execute platform engineering and management activities.
* Core Competencies:
Technical skills:
* 3+ years’ experience in production support for Confluent or Kafka platform including troubleshooting and fixing production defects.
* 3+ years applying DevSecOps and Infrastructure as Code patterns to build automation. Able and ready to learn and support other Middleware technologies in support of Platform Engineering roadmap with DevSecOps, infrastructure-as-code, software defined engineering patterns, and use of GitHub or comparable code repository.
* 3+ years of experience with Ansible, Terraform, Puppet and other Infra automation technologies Possess a thorough understanding of modern work practices such as DevSecOps, Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), Agile project Delivery, Release Engineering.
Soft skills:
* Very good written and verbal communication skills. Should be able to create good documents.
* Preferring someone who takes end to end responsibilities of the issues and drives them to closure with minimal support and follow ups from the team.
* Understands change management importance/procedures.
* Should be a team player and ready to spread knowledge within the team.
