Job description:

Project:

• This is going to act as a tech lead/principal engineer within the Rebate Data Warehouse team.

Why is req open?

• Backfill for someone who had left - this has been a gap for a few months now
• Help guide strategy
• Work with product owner Marco - he's been leaned on quite a bit, looking to offload some of that to this person
• Strategy development as well as mentorship of junior team members

Team Size & Breakdown:

• 9 data engineers that are currently on the team
• One more open position that is FTE

High-Level Individual Duties:

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using Google Cloud Platform technologies, Apache Beam, Airflow, Python, and SQL.
• Lead technical decision-making, establish engineering best practices, and ensure data quality, performance, and reliability across the platform.
• Mentor and support junior and mid-level data engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
• Act as a strategic contributor in roadmap planning, helping shape the future direction of the Rebate Data Warehouse and data engineering capabilities.

Must-Haves (Concepts & Tools):

• Apache Beam, Apache Airflow
• Google Cloud Platform Data Engineering experience - Google Cloud storage, BigQuery, Looker Studio, Cloud Composer, Gsutil, Dataplex
• Python programming
• SQL
• GitHub

What Will Win (formerly known as “Nice-to-Haves”):

• Java understanding or experience
• SnapLogic - thinks this would be easy to pick up
