Our client is seeking a hands-on Systems Engineer II who enjoys solving complex technical challenges across both hardware and software. Responsibilities
- Provide both remote and onsite technical support for data collection sites, troubleshooting capture rigs, networking issues, and data pipeline failures.
- Support the launch of new studies by configuring capture systems, establishing protocols, validating end-to-end data flow, and training onsite moderators.
- Test, evaluate, and qualify new hardware for production deployment.
- Design, prototype, and build custom capture systems and supporting hardware, including printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Develop and maintain Python scripts and automation tools to improve moderator workflows and operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Travel between collection sites as needed to provide technical support and ensure successful study execution.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of experience working across both hardware and software engineering.
- Strong programming experience with Python and general software development.
- Experience designing PCBs, including schematic capture and board layout.
- Proficiency with Bash scripting and Linux command-line tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across hardware, networking, and software environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical priorities.
- Willingness to travel between onsite locations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with camera systems, including image sensors, lenses, calibration, and synchronization.
Education
- Bachelor''s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Duration
6-month contract with strong potential for extension.
Compensation
$50.00–$60.00/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
