Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in IBM Mainframe technologies, application development, maintenance, and production support. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS, along with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and support enterprise-level applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL.
  • Develop and maintain batch jobs, procedures, and workflows using JCL.
  • Work with DB2 databases, including SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Develop and support online transaction processing applications using CICS.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement fixes.
  • Conduct unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and code reviews.
  • Optimize application performance and ensure system reliability.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, architects, and other developers.
  • Prepare technical documentation and follow established development standards.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS.
  • Experience with IBM z/OS mainframe environments.
  • Knowledge of VSAM files and mainframe batch processing.
  • Experience with job scheduling tools such as Control-M or CA-7.
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and production support skills.
  • Experience with mainframe testing, release management, and change management.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with IBM utilities, TSO/ISPF, and mainframe development tools.
  • Knowledge of IMS, MQ, or other mainframe technologies.
  • Experience in Agile development environments.
  • Domain experience in banking, financial services, insurance, or other enterprise environments is a plus.
