Mobile and DevOps Engineer

Position Overview: As a Sr Engineer (Mobile & Application DevOps), you will serve as a technical expert in mobile-focused DevOps while also supporting broader application delivery platforms (web, APIs, and backend systems). You will lead the design and evolution of CI/CD pipelines, release strategies, and platform capabilities that enable reliable, scalable delivery of mobile and non-mobile applications.

This role emphasizes mobile application delivery (iOS/Android), while ensuring alignment with enterprise DevOps practices across all engineering domains. You will provide design recommendations aligned to long-term platform strategy and drive integration of delivery pipelines and tooling across teams.

Designing Solutions
? Apply deep technical expertise to design DevOps solutions with a strong emphasis on mobile application delivery (iOS/Android)
? Architect scalable CI/CD pipelines and release workflows supporting mobile, web, and backend services
? Drive improvements in developer experience, release velocity, and system reliability across application platforms
? Independently solve complex engineering problems while aligning to enterprise platform engineering strategy

Implementing Solutions
? Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications, including build, test, signing, and distribution workflows
? Extend DevOps best practices to web and backend applications, ensuring consistency in deployment, testing, and release automation
? Optimize mobile release processes, including App Store / Google Play deployments and governance
? Implement automation for testing, security scanning, artifact management, and environment provisioning across application stacks
? Deliver solutions that meet expectations for stability, scalability, and resilience across all supported platforms


Learning and Applying New Techniques
? Stay current with emerging trends in mobile DevOps, platform engineering, and modern CI/CD tooling
? Evaluate and introduce tools that improve delivery pipelines across mobile and backend ecosystems
? Promote continuous improvement and experimentation within the team


Collaborating within the Team
? Act as a subject matter expert for mobile DevOps while contributing to broader DevOps initiatives
? Collaborate with mobile, frontend, backend, and platform teams to remove bottlenecks in delivery pipelines
? Participate in product planning and help decompose work related to platform and DevOps improvements


Defining Engineering Standards and Patterns
? Establish standards for mobile CI/CD, release governance, versioning, and environment management
? Define DevOps best practices across application types (mobile, web, backend)
? Contribute reusable templates, frameworks, and automation patterns for engineering teams
? Promote observability standards, including logging, monitoring, and telemetry across platforms


DevOps
? Continuously improve CI/CD pipelines to enhance speed, quality, and reliability of software delivery
? Focus on mobile build optimization, release automation, and developer productivity
? Apply DORA and other delivery metrics to measure and improve performance across application pipelines
? Implement automated testing, security scanning, and release validation across mobile and non-mobile applications
? Participate in support/on-call rotation, providing expertise in build systems, pipelines, and deployment infrastructure


Selecting & Managing Technology Vendors
? Evaluate tools and vendors for mobile CI/CD, device testing, observability, and general DevOps tooling
? Participate in proof-of-concepts for technologies that support both mobile and broader application delivery platforms


Coaching Engineers
? Mentor engineers on mobile DevOps practices, CI/CD pipeline design, and release automation
? Provide expertise across mobile delivery challenges
? Lead enablement sessions on DevOps tools, mobile platforms, and engineering best practices

Recruiting/Building Talent
? Help build a strong mobile DevOps capability while supporting overall platform engineering maturity
? Participate in interviews focused on mobile, DevOps, and application delivery expertise if applicable
? Contribute to defining hiring criteria for engineers across mobile DevOps roles

Required Skills:
? 7+ years of experience in software engineering with strong experience in DevOps and CI/CD practices
? Hands-on experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines (iOS/Android), including build, test, and release automation
? Experience with mobile ecosystems and tooling (e.g., Expo/EAS, Xcode, Gradle, Fastlane, or similar)
? Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines for web and/or backend applications
? Strong understanding of application release processes (mobile app stores, web deployments, APIs)
? Experience with source control and branching strategies (e.g., Git, trunk-based development)
? Strong systems design skills with focus on scalability, reliability, and security
? Experience debugging complex pipelines, logs, and distributed systems
? Experience measuring and improving delivery performance using metrics (e.g., deployment frequency, lead time, failure rate)
? Ability to perform code and pipeline reviews and guide engineering best practices
? Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical field or equivalent work experience
