What you'll be doing...

As a Principal Engineer - Network Planning, you'll be the backbone of the capital planning process for N&T - building and maintaining automation and AI-driven workflows that allow the team to effectively manage 600+ business cases and a $36B+ multiyear capital plan. You will be responsible for ensuring new business cases are captured and hierarchies are aligned, and monthly forecasts are updated through close collaboration with the FP&A team. You play a central role in shaping how that strategy gets communicated by creating content that is directly shared with the Verizon Leadership Team (VLT), Verizon Leadership Council (VLC), and Board of Director meetings. You are directly responsible for compiling complex capital material for Corporate Finance Capital Submissions throughout the year. Success requires sophisticated use of AI, and the ability to partner across N&T and with capital planning teams in VBG, VCG, VGS, FP&A, as well as corporate finance to build consensus around a multiyear capital strategy.

You will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining Google Apps Scripts and other automation supporting the team's capital planning workflows across hundreds of business cases
  • Applying sophisticated AI capabilities to streamline data analysis, content creation, and reporting for the capital planning process
  • Ensuring new business cases are captured and hierarchies are aligned, and monthly forecasts are updated in close collaboration with the FP&A team.
  • Creating content - decks, briefs, dashboards - that clearly articulates N&T's capital strategy for the Verizon Leadership Team (VLT), Verizon Leadership Council (VLC), and Board of Director meetings.
  • Compiling complex capital material for Corporate Finance Capital Submissions throughout the year.
  • Partnering with stakeholders across N&T and align with capital planning teams in VBG, VCG, VGS, FP&A, and corporate finance on automation, process, and strategy needs.
  • Managing multiple competing priorities across concurrent projects while creating forward momentum and consensus
  • Bringing process rigor to the team's operating cadence, identifying opportunities to automate or improve consistency.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
  • Experience with the use of AI to improve team productivity and output quality.
  • Experience in project management skills, able to juggle multiple competing priorities without formal authority
  • Experience in collaborating across internal departments and stakeholders

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.
  • Experience in data analytics.
  • Experience in presentation and storytelling skills, able to translate technical and financial detail into a clear narrative for executives.
  • Experience in demonstrating leadership and process skills as an individual contributor.
  • Possess good engineering skills, with proven experience building automation (Google Apps Script, scripting, or similar tools).

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every "even better" qualification listed above.
