Summary

Title: Senior Solutions Architect/ Lead AI & Platform Engineer
Location: Hybrid onsite in East Boston, MA - Locals
 
 
 ESSENTIAL TASKS OF THE JOB:
 
A.    Solution Architecture & Technical Strategy
1.      Design secure, scalable architectures for enterprise applications, AI agents, data integrations, workflow automation, and cloud or hybrid-cloud platforms.
2.      Define reusable standards for APIs, identity, data access, deployment, monitoring, logging, testing, resilience, and human approval workflows.
3.      Evaluate technical options and recommend whether they should build, buy, configure, integrate, modernize, or retire a solution based on security, cost, reliability, and supportability.
4.      Maintain architecture diagrams, data flows, technical decisions, system dependencies, and production support documentation.
B.    AI, Software & Integration Engineering
1.      Lead and contribute to the development of applications, copilots, RAG solutions, custom AI agents, APIs, data pipelines, and automated workflows.
2.      Design secure integrations with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Entra ID, Microsoft Graph, Copilot, and approved Google Cloud and Gemini for Government services.
3.      Use modern engineering practices and AI coding assistants to produce maintainable, tested, documented, and secure software.
4.      Ensure AI solutions preserve source-system permissions, provide traceability, and include appropriate evaluation, monitoring, and human oversight.
C.    Cloud, Platform & Reliability Engineering
1.      Design and support cloud, hybrid-cloud, Linux, containerized, and on-premises environments using Azure, Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and related technologies.
2.      Implement infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, CI/CD, automated testing, patching, secrets management, and repeatable deployment practices using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Bash, and PowerShell.
3.      Establish observability, alerting, service reliability, backup, recovery, capacity, and incident-response standards for production systems.
4.      Lead complex troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, vulnerability remediation, and corrective engineering actions.
D.    Security & Technical Leadership
1.      Apply secure development, least-privilege access, encryption, vulnerability management, dependency scanning, container security, and software supply-chain controls.
2.      Partner with cybersecurity, infrastructure, network, database, and operational teams to ensure solutions meet security and regulatory requirements.
3.      Provide architecture reviews, code reviews, technical direction, training, and mentoring to junior developers and project teams.
4.      Support innovation labs, prototypes, demonstrations, and production transitions associated with the “Toy, Tool, Transform” strategy.
 
II.  SECONDARY JOB TASKS
  • Participate in technology planning, vendor evaluations, procurement reviews, platform upgrades, and application modernization efforts.
  • Assist with technical interviews, consultant selection, statements of work, and vendor performance reviews.
  • Perform other duties as required.
 
III.  JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
 
A. Education Level
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent advanced experience, education, and technical certifications may be considered.
 
B. Experience in Related Field
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in software engineering, solutions architecture, cloud engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, site reliability engineering, or related technical work.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, securing, deploying, monitoring, and supporting enterprise production systems, including experience guiding other developers or engineers.
  • Experience with AI-enabled applications, RAG, intelligent agents, automation, or enterprise data integrations strongly preferred.
 
C. Unique Expertise/Certification/Registrations
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and working experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Bash, PowerShell, SQL, APIs, and modern application frameworks.
  • Strong experience with Linux, Azure, Google Cloud Platform or AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, Git, CI/CD, and observability tools.
  • Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, Microsoft 365 integrations, identity and access management, cybersecurity, vulnerability management, and software supply-chain security.
  • Strong communication, documentation, troubleshooting, mentoring, and executive advisory skills. Relevant cloud, Linux, security, Kubernetes, DevOps, or AI certifications preferred.
  • Ability to acquire a DHS Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Ability to pass the clients security clearance, obtain the clients security badge, and pass controlled substances and background security checks.
 
D. Working Conditions
  • Environmental Parameters: Ability to work in an office setting and travel routinely to the clients facilities, including computer rooms, airport, maritime, and industrial environments with fumes, odors, dust, and noise levels ranging from 65 to 100 decibels.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to exert up to 20 lbs. of force; use computers and technical equipment; distinguish colors; communicate verbally; and perceive the nature of sounds.
 
E. Work Schedule
  • Ability to work a 37.5-hour workweek and meet fluctuating project, deployment, incident-response, and operational demands, including occasional nights and weekends.
  • Ability to carry and respond to an Authority-issued phone or response system.
  • This is a hybrid position with routine onsite work required.
