Summary

Automotive EDI Specialist

Top Consulting is looking for an Automotive EDI Specialist that will be responsible for managing, implementing, and troubleshooting EDI processes and transactions with our manufacture clients trading partners. The analyst will ensure compliance with automotive standards, facilitate data exchange, and improve business processes across the supply chain.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure, implement, test, and maintain EDI systems, transactions, and mappings to support automotive industry requirements (e.g., ANSI X12, EDIFACT, VDA).
  • Onboard and support trading partners, ensuring successful EDI communication and testing.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot EDI transmissions, resolve errors, and ensure timely and accurate data exchange.
  • Work closely with IT, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure integration between EDI systems and internal ERP systems (e.g., Infor and Plex).
  • Analyze business processes and provide EDI solutions to optimize procure to pay and order to cash workflows.
  • Manage EDI compliance with automotive industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Maintain documentation for EDI processes, maps, and partner configurations.
  • Participate in system upgrades, testing, and validation of new EDI functionalities.
  • Support trading partner requirements such as Advanced Shipping Notices (ASNs), Purchase Orders (POs), Invoices, Payment Orders, Planning Schedules, Shipping Schedules, and Inventory Inquiries.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and customers to resolve communication and data issues.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with EDI implementation, mapping, and troubleshooting including 1+ year in automotive industry.
  • Strong understanding of EDI standards (e.g., ANSI X12, EDIFACT, VDA).
  • Experience working with EDI tools (e.g., GXS / OpenText, Sterling Integrator, Gentran, Infor Autorelease, Infor Supplier Exchange, or similar platforms).
  • Knowledge of ERP and WMS systems integration for EDI processes (e.g., Plex Systems, Infor System21, SAP, or similar platforms).
  • Familiarity with automotive supply chain processes, including ASNs, Purchase Orders, Shipping Schedules, and Invoicing.
  • Proficiency in communication protocols such as AS2, FTP/SFTP, HTTP, and VANs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with automotive OEMs and Tier 1/2 suppliers.
  • Understanding of manufacturing, supply chain management, and logistics workflows.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages for automation (e.g., Python, SQL, or Shell).
  • Strong project management and documentation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
