Business-savvy technology leader who partners with the Chief Technology Officer and other senior leaders to align the business plan with the appropriate technology architecture, roadmap, and detailed delivery plans. Oversees the design, development, and operation of applications, systems, and services supporting key business capabilities, built and run using modern digital technology, agile development practices, and DevOps models. Ensures strategic business objectives are achieved through scalable, flexible, cost-effective, and secure solutions, and evaluates advanced technologies such as cloud, microservices, big data, and AI to ensure the organization's continued growth and competitiveness.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Partner with the CTO and senior business leaders to align technology architecture, roadmap, and delivery plans with strategic business objectives.
  • Oversee the design, development, and operation of applications, systems, and services supporting key business capabilities, built using modern digital technology, agile practices, and DevOps models.
  • Lead diverse cross-functional teams of internal and external resources, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Identify, evaluate, and cultivate new technology solutions and services, such as cloud, microservices, big data, and AI, that ensure the organization's future viability and business value.
  • Coach the team on anticipating and resolving points of friction, and lead negotiation and conflict resolution efforts across business partners to keep initiatives moving forward.
  • Leverage agile, DevOps, and performance metrics/KPIs to measure, track, and report on the success of technology initiatives and innovations.
  • Manage technology plans, budgets, and policies within the overall IT framework, strategically committing new and existing resources to meet operating objectives.
  • Ensure robust security, data protection, and regulatory compliance measures are in place across all technology activities.

Leadership Responsibilities

Leads a team of internal staff and external resources supporting the assigned technology area, including hiring, training, performance management, mentoring, and day-to-day direction of the work.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, technology, business, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10-15 years of progressive technology leadership experience, including leading and growing technology platforms and services for a rapidly growing business.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with business stakeholders, vendor partners, and software development/data analytics functions to apply technology capabilities to new business solutions.
  • Strong business and technical acumen with a proven track record of building and managing systems aligned to business needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience preparing change plans, business plans, and board-level documents.
  • Experience applying advanced and proven technologies (e.g., Big Data, microservices, cloud, and integration tools) in a way that provides strong business value.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Insurance industry experience.
  • Experience developing new digital technology solutions and services from within an established, traditional business.
  • Strong network of connections across digital technology and digital business spaces (platform technologies, development, economics, businesses, etc.).
