Blue Sky Innovative Solutions is seeking a qualified full-time
contracted Systems Administrator/ISSO (Mid) for a new opportunity to support our government customer.
LOCATION: Charlottesville, VA
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
POSITION DESCRIPTION - The
Systems Administrator/ISSO (Mid) provides ongoing support for Federal Government client. They will own the infrastructure that keeps our federal mission partner's, mission-critical application running across two separate government cloud environments. This position is designated as the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) of record, making you the day-to-day security conscience of the platform in addition to its primary systems administrator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Design, implement, and manage project infrastructure to ensure system reliability, scalability, and security.
- Install, configure, and patch system components; monitor and optimize system performance and capacity; resolve issues as they arise.
- Maintain system documentation, security controls, and compliance/ATO documentation.
- Perform security scans and execute data ingests and test scripts supporting releases.
- Serve as the ISSO of record - owning RMF artifacts, POA&Ms, STIG application, and coordination with the government CIO on the system's accreditation lifecycle.
- Partner with developers and DevOps engineers to integrate security into the pipeline from the earliest stages.
- Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Minimum of 3+ years of systems administration experience in secure, enterprise, or DoD environments.
- Experience supporting Agile software development teams.
- Background supporting DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and common development tools (Git, Jenkins, Jira).
- Familiarity with RedHat8 Linux, AWS Tc2S, RMF procedures, STIGs, RMF, DISA guidance, and other DoD compliance frameworks.
- Working knowledge of the ATO process.
CLEARANCE CERTIFICAITON - Microsoft, Linux, or VMware certification.
- Security+ CE certification or equivalent/higher level DoD 8140 (prev. 8570 IAT Level II) equivalent or higher.
EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related technical field (four additional years of specialized experience may substitute).
HOURS OF OPERATION The worksite location will be performed predominantly at the Government offices during core business hours of 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday on a regular 40 hour per week schedule unless otherwise required by the Manager.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Must have the use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America. Sponsorship will not be a part of this contract.
