We are looking for a motivated and skilled
PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and enhance the performance, resilience, and scalability of our PostgreSQL systems. This position involves ensuring efficient database operations, troubleshooting incidents, maintaining security, and collaborating with teams to implement improvements across the infrastructure.
The role follows regular business hours. Weekend on-call support may be required. On-call duty typically occurs once per month, with a maximum of two occurrences per month.

Responsibilities
- Manage PostgreSQL environments with a focus on stability, optimization, and automation
- Ensure high availability and security of PostgreSQL systems and handle routine incidents
- Collaborate with development, cloud, and infrastructure teams on database solutions and implementations
- Perform version upgrades, small-scale migrations, and routine patching cycles
- Configure and maintain replication setups (streaming or logical) and oversee failover readiness
- Conduct performance diagnostics and improvements on queries, indexing, and database configurations
- Oversee backups and restore operations using tools like pgBackRest, ensuring reliability and scalability
- Monitor transaction bottlenecks, locks, and vacuum tuning to address potential issues
- Assist teams with schema design, stored procedures, and data modeling
- Maintain accurate documentation of database practices, configurations, and architecture diagrams
- Participate in release plan validations and ensure efficient deployment of database updates
- Collaborate on automating routine operations with scripts and tools where possible
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL DBA experience managing enterprise setups
- Deep understanding of PostgreSQL internals, MVCC, indexing mechanisms, partitioning, and WAL behavior
- Background in replication (streaming/logical) and familiarity with basic failover solutions
- Skills in query plan analysis, parameter tuning, and basic performance management practices
- Expertise in backup/restore techniques, including pgBackRest configuration
- Proficiency in Linux system administration and scripting (Shell/Python)
- Working knowledge of at least one other RDBMS: Oracle / MS SQL / MySQL / MongoDB
- Strong communication abilities and aptitude for cross-team collaboration
- English level of minimum B2 (Upper-Intermediate) for effective communication
Nice to have
- Familiarity with cloud-native PostgreSQL services such as AWS Aurora, RDS PostgreSQL, Google Cloud Platform Cloud SQL, or Azure PostgreSQL
- Knowledge of extensions like PostGIS, TimescaleDB, pg_stat_statements, or pg_partman
- Experience with HA tools like Patroni or repmgr for replication management
- Understanding of CI/CD integration in database deployments
- Certifications in PostgreSQL or Extended Database Platforms (EDB)
