Software Developer

HGA is seeking a talented Software Developer to join our development team in Ruston, Louisiana. In this role, you will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development, ensuring seamless integration of server-side logic with user-facing elements. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand how their processes actually work, including the decisions, handoffs, and exceptions, and translate them into structured data models, working Python/Django applications, and AI-assisted workflows. You will work on a variety of projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-performance web applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain full-stack web applications using Python and Django
  
  
• Build, maintain, and enhance front-end components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  
  
• Design relational data models and develop database schemas, migrations, and data imports using PostgreSQL
  
  
• Lead requirements and process discovery with stakeholders, mapping workflows, roles, decisions, dependencies, handoffs, and exceptions, and translating them into application requirements
  
  
• Design and build AI-assisted workflows, including source-grounded (retrieval-augmented) approaches, agent workflows, and human-in-the-loop approval controls
  
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and end users to create user-friendly interfaces and support the adoption of new systems
  
  
• Write and maintain technical documentation, user guidance, and training resources.

Qualifications

• Must be based in Ruston, Louisiana.
  
  
• Strong proficiency in Python
  
  
• Experience with Django, or the ability to quickly become proficient in it
  
  
• Experience with front-end technologies
  
  
• HTML and CSS
  
  
• JavaScript
  
  
• Strong understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
  
  
• Experience working with version control systems, particularly Git.
  
  
• Experience with process analysis, workflow mapping, and requirements discovery.
  
  
• Ability to quickly develop a deep understanding of unfamiliar systems and apply that knowledge to practical problems.
  
  
• Strong written communication skills for documentation and stakeholder communication
  
  
• Familiarity with applied AI concepts (retrieval-augmented generation, agent workflows, human-in-the-loop design) is a plus
  
  
• Familiarity with Linux server deployment (systemd, TLS, database backups) is a plus.
