Infrastructure Delivery Install Technician to support on-site operations in
New Carlisle, IN.
This is a hands-on contract role focused on installing servers, network equipment, and structured cabling in a fast-paced data center environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically curious, and comfortable working with both internal teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality infrastructure solutions that support next-generation networks.
Role UnderstandingInfrastructure Delivery Technicians handle the
physical build-out of IT environments. This role is execution-focused and critical to ensuring infrastructure is installed accurately, safely, and according to standard practices.
Core responsibilities include:
- Installing servers, switches, and hardware (rack and stack)
- Running, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting fiber and copper cabling
- Building structured cabling systems, including racks, trays, ladders, and patch panels
- Supporting work in fast-paced data center or telecom environments
- Completing accurate labeling, documentation, and standards-based installations
Key Responsibilities- Install, inspect, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic and copper cabling, including patch panels and patch cords
- Perform structured cabling installation and maintenance in data center environments
- Partner with cable and hardware vendors to coordinate, inspect, and validate installations
- Physically install and position servers, switches, network racks, and related equipment
- Ensure all work complies with installation standards, safety requirements, and data center best practices
- Manage work and priorities through a ticketing system and established workflows
- Provide updates via tickets, status reports, email, and Slack
- Identify and resolve hardware, cabling, and infrastructure issues
- Maintain accurate documentation, inventory, and change management records
- Coordinate daily delivery, staging, and tracking of materials and equipment
- Work with a partner to move enterprise equipment from loading docks to planned installation locations
- Maintain high-quality workmanship, organization, and site cleanliness
- Carry a company cell phone for communication and emergency response
- Travel up to 50% within the geographic work area, with occasional travel outside the area
Work ScheduleThis role follows a
12-hour day shift schedule with rotating coverage:
- Front Half Days (FHD):
- Sunday - Tuesday + every other Wednesday
- Hours: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM
- Back Half Days (BHD):
- Thursday - Saturday + every other Wednesday
- Hours: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM
Candidates must be comfortable working extended shifts, weekends, and a rotating Wednesday schedule.
Required Qualifications- Experience installing and troubleshooting fiber and copper cabling
- Familiarity with data center operations, including racks, servers, and network devices
- Understanding of hardware and networking fundamentals
- Experience working with ticketing systems and operational workflows
- Ability to read and follow technical documentation and installation standards
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with vendors and internal teams
- Willingness to learn new technologies in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications- Prior experience in data center, infrastructure, or network deployment roles
- Exposure to enterprise-class servers and network switches
- Experience with inventory or asset management systems
- Familiarity with large-scale infrastructure or capacity expansion projects
