Company Background: Our client, a major employer in the area, is looking for a Lab Operations Test Engineer to be part of its team in its North American operations.

 

Job Description:

  • The primary responsibility of this role is to support the Powertrain Testing - Lab Operations function at the Client's site.
  • Reporting to the Manager of Operations – Central Lab Ops, the person in this role will support the Powertrain Testing department's objective to ensure testing readiness.

 

What you'll be doing

  • Test Execution: engine, powertrain, or vehicle chassis dynamometers and emission analyzers.
  • Compliance Validation: Verify test results against Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and certification procedures (such as FTP, HWFE, and US06).
  • Data Analysis: Analyze emission outputs, particulate matter (PM), and fuel economy data to optimize engine performance.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose equipment or vehicle anomalies in controlled test cells and environmental chambers
  • Support on site teams to ensure facilities are supporting current and new R&D activities.
  • Battery Development & Testing at new Battery Lab Facility

  • Provide Engineering Support for Powertrain Testing Operations
  • Oversee and resolve problems associated with R&D testing equipment.
  • Support daily operations and problem solve those issues and develop countermeasures

 

Requirements:

What you bring

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of propulsion systems, CFR Emission Testing Requirements,
  • Software/Tools: Proficiency with data acquisition tools (Panel 4, ETAS or Hioki) and modeling platforms

 

What you may bring

  • Professional Engineering License (PE)
  • Proficiency in reading electrical and mechanical prints
