Senior Data Engineer

Location: Columbus, Ohio (onsite 4 days/week)

Employment Type: Contract

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to participate in building an innovative enterprise data solution that uses both cloud and on-premise technologies. This role is responsible for designing new data pipelines to leverage data at scale, coaching on development standards, and supporting development teams to ensure successful delivery. Responsibilities include building data engineering solutions and processes for analytics, business intelligence, and MDM.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in technology discovery and implementation for cloud and on-premise platforms to build solutions for future architecture.
  • Provide logical and physical data design and database modeling.
  • Provide end-to-end support for solution integration, including designing, developing, deploying, and supporting solutions for existing platforms.
  • Perform gap analysis on the current state and help define the new data architecture.
  • Manage code versions and deployment processes in source control and coordinate changes across teams.
  • Work with team members to solve data issues related to data integration and unstructured data sets.
  • Partner with enterprise teams, data scientists, and architects to define design requirements and solutions.
Required Qualifications

Education: A B.A./B.S. degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Experience: 8+ years of relevant work experience is required, including at least 2 years of experience with cloud platform technologies.

Technical Skills:
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, Snowflake, and Python.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Azure Services (ADLS, ADF, Azure Functions).
  • Experience with MPP platforms and data modernization initiatives using PaaS/SaaS services.
  • Knowledge of data models (relational, Star schema, Data vault, Document).
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling using Azure DevOps.
  • Experience building data pipelines with DBT.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leveraging agentic AI for development.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze raw data and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Effective project management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
