Position: Senior Data Scientist (GenAI & Utilities) Location: Corpus Christi, TX (Hybrid/On-site preferred) Duration: 6- 12 months Contract (with possible extension)

About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Data Scientist to lead advanced AI initiatives focused on Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems. This role is ideal for a technical leader who has successfully applied AI within utilities, energy, oil & gas, or industrial environments. You will architect and deploy AI-driven solutions that convert complex, unstructured operational data such as technical documentation, field reports, and maintenance logs into intelligent decision-support systems that enhance reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.

What You Will Do Architect Intelligent RAG Systems: Design, implement, and continuously improve scalable RAG pipelines that power AI-driven troubleshooting and field service support systems.

Advance LLM Capabilities: Fine-tune, benchmark, and optimize state-of-the-art language models (e.g., GPT-class and open-source LLMs) for domain-specific reasoning, contextual understanding, and technical accuracy.

Build Enterprise Knowledge Platforms: Develop robust Python-based frameworks integrating vector databases (such as Pinecone, Milvus, or Weaviate) to enable semantic search and knowledge retrieval across large technical document repositories.

Unlock Value from Operational Data: Apply LLM-based solutions to extract insights from asset management systems, SCADA alerts, maintenance histories, engineering documentation, and other industrial data sources.

Production Deployment & Scaling: Partner with engineering teams to deploy, monitor, and scale AI solutions in secure cloud environments (Azure or AWS), ensuring reliability and performance.

Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with operations teams, engineers, product leaders, and stakeholders to translate business challenges into impactful AI solutions.

What You Bring
15+ years of experience in Data Science or Machine Learning, including hands-on work with Generative AI and LLM-based systems
Proven expertise designing and deploying RAG architectures in production environments
Advanced programming skills in Python, with experience in frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
Practical experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, vector embeddings, and semantic search systems
Strong SQL skills and experience working with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets
Industry experience in utilities, energy, oil & gas, or heavy industrial operations
Master s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline
