Title: Cost Accountant
Location: Rockwall, TX
Duration: Direct Hire - Permanent Position with our client
Compensation: $80,000 - $95,000/year

COST ACCOUNTANTOur client is a global designer, manufacturer, and seller of outside plant infrastructure equipment. The markets served by our client are Telecommunications, Municipalities, Internet Service Providers, Wireless, Water, Power, and CATV, among others. Major product lines include a complete line of thermoplastic and metal fabricated enclosures, fiber optic cable connection and management systems, and high-performance below-grade vaults.
The Cost Accountant develops, reviews, and controls standard costs while analyzing variances and the effect on the P&L. Work must be completed in order to close the books each month within the time requirements of our client. Reconcile raw material, WIP, finished goods and calculated inventory turns and obsolescence. Prepare month end journal entries, reconcile accounts, and review monthly financials, while maintaining efficient gross margins. Maintains good housekeeping practices and ensure that all company policies and safety rules are followed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Update and analyze Cycle Count Program following the policies and procedures of our client. Monitor and analyze the Cycle Count Program and assist in Inventory Audits.
- Execute monthly scrap reporting following the policies and procedures of our client; and ensure the highest degree of inventory accuracy through monitoring the maintenance of the perpetual inventory system. Review and recommend potential write-off of obsolete and damaged inventory; ensure a realistic valuation of goods-on-hand.
- Assist in the maintenance of the standard cost control systems and procedures.
- Maintain and follow procedures and processes for creating and updating standard costs, including labor and overhead rate calculations.
- Monitor engineering change notifications and implement approved changes to the Bill-Of-Material for all items.
- Analyze and report manufacturing variances.
- Reconcile and analyze various general ledger accounts.
- Review and analyze monthly manufacturing expenses.
- Other duties as deemed necessary.
ABILITY TO/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: - Must understand and follow all of our client''s safety rules.
- Understand Oracle costing and inventory modules.
- Understand ISO sections pertaining to the position.
EQUIPMENT USED: - Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office and other software programs
- RF Scanner
- Oracle ERP
- Weighing/counting scales
QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor''s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study.
- Two (2) to five (5) years of hands-on cost accounting experience with inventory control experience within the manufacturing industry.
- Oracle ERP within the manufacturing industry experience highly recommended.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing BOMs, routers, WIP and creation of standard cost from the bottom up.
- Strong knowledge of Inventory Management within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, pivot tables, macros, etc.
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with persons at varying levels within and outside the company.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain information in a logical and easily understood fashion.
- Detailed planning skills and the ability to apply forethought in decision making.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.
