DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
DCF is seeking a motivated Systems Architect III to serve as the technical lead for backend
infrastructure services in a diverse enterprise environment consisting of multiple cloud
services and on-premises infrastructure components.
The candidate will provide innovative solutions, analyze new and existing technologies, and
recommend improvements to performance, stability, and cost efficiency. This role requires
expert-level troubleshooting skills and the ability to ensure infrastructure components are
properly designed, delivered, managed, and aligned with organizational IT policies and best
practices.
The Systems Architect III will provide leadership and subject matter expertise in the
administration, maintenance, and support of numerous backend systems that support
application development, security, integration, and desktop infrastructure. Responsibilities
include directing and managing workload of team members and overseeing on-call support
functions for the operations team.
The individual will work closely with IT professionals, supervisors, project managers, and
leadership to:
• Ensure technical components are available and functioning properly for projects and
operations
• Document and monitor requirements for updates and new services
• Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions
• Define clear project goals and manage execution
• Identify risks, constraints, scope changes, and resource challenges
• Direct a small team in completing tasks and improving operational support
• Maintain hands-on technical involvement while guiding strategy
This position serves as third-level (L3) technical support for:
• Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
• Monitoring tools
• Multi-factor authentication services
• Storage and backup systems
• PowerShell scripting
• Customized off-the-shelf applications
Core infrastructure domains include:
• Microsoft Windows Server (all supported versions)
• Active Directory (including ADFS)
• Group Policy
• Distributed File Services (DFS)
• DHCP
• Networking protocols and services
• Azure subscriptions and services
• LDAP configuration
• Certificate services (creation, support, maintenance for core systems and
integrations)
• Office 365 (Teams, email, other services)
The candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills, provide clear, timely status
updates to management, foster collaboration, and consistently demonstrate initiative and
accountability. The role requires partnering with external agency DOA and third-party
vendors to support modernization initiatives.
On-call responsibilities and weekend maintenance/support coverage are required.
This position is budgeted for 1960 hours annually (prorated first year based on start date).
