Position: Scrum Master Data Engineering (Finance Domain)
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)
Duration: Long Term Contract
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master with strong exposure to Data Engineering projects and mandatory Finance domain experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving Agile delivery, facilitating collaboration between offshore and onshore teams, and ensuring successful execution of data-driven initiatives within a fast-paced financial environment.
The candidate should possess excellent stakeholder management, Agile coaching, delivery coordination, and communication skills while working closely with Data Engineers, Architects, Product Owners, QA teams, and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Agile/Scrum ceremonies including:
Daily Stand-ups
Sprint Planning
Sprint Reviews
Retrospectives
Backlog Grooming
Coordinate effectively between offshore and onshore teams to ensure smooth communication, delivery alignment, and dependency management.
Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Data Engineers, and stakeholders to define sprint goals and delivery priorities.
Track sprint progress, manage risks/issues/blockers, and ensure timely resolution.
Drive Agile best practices and foster continuous improvement within teams.
Support Data Engineering initiatives involving:
Data pipelines
ETL/ELT processes
Data Warehousing
Cloud Data Platforms
Big Data ecosystems
Monitor team velocity, sprint metrics, burndown charts, and delivery KPIs.
Ensure transparency in project status reporting to leadership and stakeholders.
Facilitate collaboration across multiple cross-functional teams in a distributed/global environment.
Partner with Finance business teams to understand domain requirements, regulatory considerations, and delivery expectations.
Promote a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Minimum 6+ years of overall IT experience with 3+ years as Scrum Master.
Strong experience managing Agile teams in Data Engineering/Data Analytics projects.
Mandatory experience in Finance/Banking/Financial Services domain.
Hands-on experience coordinating offshore and onshore teams.
Strong understanding of:
Agile/Scrum methodologies
JIRA/Confluence
Sprint & Release Management
Agile Metrics & Reporting
Familiarity with Data Engineering concepts and technologies such as:
ETL/Data Pipelines
Snowflake
Databricks
SQL
Azure/AWS/Google Cloud Platform Data Services
Hadoop/Spark (preferred)
Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Scrum Master (CSM/PSM/SAFe Scrum Master).
Experience working in global delivery models.
Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and modern data architecture.
Experience supporting enterprise-scale financial data initiatives.
