Job Details

We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead and oversee quality assurance, quality control, and continuous improvement initiatives within a precision machining and manufacturing environment serving the aerospace, industrial, and defense industries. This position will play a key leadership role in maintaining compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards while supporting operational excellence across the organization.

Depending on experience and skill set, this individual may oversee quality assurance, inspection operations, or broader manufacturing quality functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures and quality management systems in accordance with AS9100 and applicable customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and manage quality assurance and inspection activities to ensure the highest standards of safety, compliance, and precision manufacturing.
  • Oversee internal audit schedules and ensure audits are completed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Conduct management review meetings and report on quality system performance, trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure the integrity and effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, operations, and supply chain teams to resolve quality-related issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead customer and supplier communication related to quality concerns, corrective actions, and nonconformance resolution.
  • Determine root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence of quality issues.
  • Review and approve manufacturing and inspection documentation for accuracy and compliance with customer specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Ensure processes are delivering intended outputs and meet all internal, customer, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a culture of quality and customer focus throughout the organization.
  • Develop and deliver training programs related to quality procedures, inspection standards, and aerospace compliance requirements.
  • Utilize statistical analysis and data-driven methodologies to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to quality and inspection personnel.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a machine shop or precision machining manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience within quality, inspection, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience working in a machine shop environment with approximately $10M-$35M in annual revenue preferred.
  • Strong background in aerospace manufacturing and machined components highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 quality standards and aerospace regulatory requirements.
  • Expertise in ANSI Y14.5 GD&T, including development of inspection methods and techniques.
  • Familiarity with CNC machining operations, including mills and lathes.
  • Understanding of special processes such as coatings, plating, heat treating, and nondestructive testing (NDT).
  • Experience conducting audits, root cause analysis, and corrective action investigations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, industrial, or defense customers.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies and lean manufacturing principles.
