Role: Senior Manager, SAP Close Process and A2R

Job Description:
The Senior Manager, SAP Close Process and A2R (Record to Report) will report to the Director, SAP Group Reporting within the Finance Technology organization. This role is responsible for leading the close and A2R process function with a strong balance of functional expertise, process ownership, and SAP S/4HANA subject matter knowledge.
This position will support the design, governance, delivery, and continuous improvement of finance close and A2R processes, including period-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting readiness, and control execution. The role partners closely with Finance, Controllership, IT, and business stakeholders to ensure SAP-supported processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned to business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead SAP-supported close and A2R processes within Finance Technology.
- Own functional process design and improvement for entity close, reconciliation, journal entry support, and reporting activities.
- Serve as the functional SME for SAP S/4HANA close-related capabilities and A2R processes.
- Partner with Finance leadership and process owners to define requirements and translate them into scalable SAP solutions.
- Oversee enhancements, defects, testing, and release readiness for close-related capabilities.
- Support period-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Ensure strong controls, auditability, compliance, and segregation of duties across close and A2R processes.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring close, reconciliation, or posting issues.
- Lead cross-functional discussions on process improvement, automation, and close acceleration.
- Coordinate with technical teams and external partners to deliver high-quality SAP solutions aligned to business needs.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to analysts, support teams, and project contributors.
Functional Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Record to Report and A2R business processes.
- Deep understanding of entity close, subledger reconciliation, journal entries, balance carryforward, and financial reporting.
- Ability to map business requirements into SAP Finance process and configuration decisions.
- Experience working with Finance, Controllership, and Shared Services stakeholders.
- Strong process mapping, gap analysis, and solution design skills.
- Familiarity with controls, audit requirements, and financial compliance.
SME Skills Supported by SAP S/4HANA
- Strong working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Finance and close-related functionality.
- Experience supporting close orchestration, reconciliation, and reporting processes in SAP.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex finance process and system issues.
- Knowledge of integrations that impact close accuracy and timing.
- Experience supporting testing, cutover, and stabilization for SAP Finance changes.
- Ability to assess whether requirements should be met through standard SAP, configuration, or enhancement.
Leadership Expectations:
- Act as a strategic partner to the Director, SAP Group Reporting and Finance leadership.
- Lead through influence across business and technology teams.
- Bring structure, accountability, and clarity to the close and A2R process.
- Mentor team members and build functional capability within the Finance Technology group.
- Communicate effectively with both operational teams and senior stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in SAP Finance, close processes, or Record to Report.
- Demonstrated experience in SAP S/4HANA Finance environments.
- Strong background in financial close, reporting, controls, and process improvement.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed environment.
- Prior people leadership or project leadership experience preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- Global finance or manufacturing environment experience.
- SAP close orchestration or financial close optimization experience.
- Experience with entity close, intercompany, reconciliations, and reporting processes.
- Exposure to finance transformation or SAP S/4HANA implementation initiatives.
- Experience supporting audit and compliance requirements.
