IBM I (AS400) System Administrator
Role and Responsibilities
The IBM I System Administrator will be responsible for:
- Running standard jobs
- Maintain system and device health for high volume printers, tape drives,
- Perform and manage backups,
- Operate system side software,
- Respond to error messages and resolve underlying issues,
- Apply PTFs, perform IPLs, contact vendors for maintenance,
- Run print jobs for business documents (e.g., invoices and reports) and distribute output as necessary.
Must have:
- IBM I, iSeries or AS400 Power10 systems and operations experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency IBM I OS v10, POWER10
- Troubleshooting and technical experience related to IBM i.
- Must be able to run jobs from established run sheets and maintain those run sheets
- IBM I Command set (Control Language Programming (CLP))
- Prior BRMS experience
- Ability to apply PTFs
- Ability to perform IPLs
- Prior HMC and Console experience
- Knowledge of iTera, MDChange, ALDON are plus s
- Interaction with users
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- A college degree or equivalent work experience
- IBM System I operations certifications a plus
Nice to have
- RPG programming language (IV, ILE and Freeform)
- SQL
- Cisco Meraki and Unified Communications
- Documentation
- DB2
