Summary

Dematic Corp. has an immediate opening for a Senior Controls Engineer for its Lifecycle Services and Solutions - Modernizations & Upgrades organization. The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of experience and the ability to perform complex, diverse engineering work for material handling systems.

This role ensures Dematic project standards across hardware, software, electrical (power and safety), and system solutions. It manages the engineering deliverables required to advance projects from kickoff through customer acceptance. In close partnership with the Project Manager, the Senior Controls Engineer translates customer technical requirements into actionable engineering tasks and helps ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. The role also supports project teams through technical design reviews, training, and application guidance.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $115,200.00 - $172,800.00 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:

What You'll Do in This Role:
  • Help develop, maintain, and improve controls standards and documentation.
  • Assist in evaluating and recommending standard control hardware solutions.
  • Participate in technical reviews for controls hardware and software.
  • Support project engineering teams with controls design needs.
  • Review controls designs and support validation activities.
  • Help project teams troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Provide project technical support, including problem solving, integration support, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Share expertise and guide junior team members on project engineering teams.
  • Review system-level drawings and documentation to support technical and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineering disciplines, project management, and other departments.
  • Promote safety and compliance through clear communication and adherence to standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency, reduce cost, and enhance system performance.
  • Support planning and delivery of engineering work within project timelines.
  • Travel up to 40% for project sites, customer meetings, supplier visits, and project execution support.

What We Are Looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; Electrical, Mechatronics, or Controls Engineering preferred.
  • 8+ years of Controls Engineering or related experience, with demonstrated success delivering project controls solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams, functions, and organizational levels.
  • Customer-facing experience and the ability to represent engineering in technical discussions.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP (EIP), Modbus, CIP Safety, SafeLink, PROFINET, and PROFIsafe.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens TIA Portal PLC platforms.
