Position Description

This role works closely with business stakeholders, developers, project teams, and vendors to ensure applications, websites, software platforms, and digital documents comply with WCAG 2.2, Section 508, ADA, and state accessibility requirements. The ideal candidate will conduct accessibility assessments, analyze business and technical requirements, document findings, recommend remediation strategies, support quality assurance activities, and promote inclusive technology practices that improve access for all users.

Essential Duties:

Conducts accessibility evaluations and compliance testing of websites, applications, software platforms, and digital documents using automated and manual testing techniques.

Analyzes business, functional, and technical requirements to ensure accessibility requirements are incorporated into system design, development, testing, and implementation activities.

Evaluates digital products for compliance with WCAG 2.2, Section 508, ADA, and other applicable accessibility standards and regulations.Identify, document, track, and validate accessibility defects; recommend remediation solutions and verify corrective actions.

Performs system analysis, quality assurance, user acceptance testing, and production validation activities to support reliable and accessible technology solutions.

Reviews and assesses vendor accessibility documentation, including Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) and Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs), to support procurement and implementation decisions.

Collaborates with business stakeholders, project managers, developers, testers, content creators, and vendors to ensure accessibility requirements are understood and implemented.

Develops and maintains documentation, including requirements, test plans, accessibility assessments, remediation recommendations, and compliance reports.

Provides technical guidance, consultation, and training on accessibility standards, testing methodologies, assistive technologies, and inclusive design practices.

Supports accessibility governance initiatives, compliance monitoring, risk assessments, and continuous improvement efforts across the Information Technology Division.

Researches emerging accessibility standards, technologies, and best practices and recommend improvements to agency processes and digital services.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

2 years of experience in systems analysis, application systems support, or related work experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Accessibility Studies.

Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.

Three or more years of experience in systems analysis, business analysis, software quality assurance, digital accessibility, or a related information technology discipline.

Demonstrated experience evaluating websites, web applications, mobile applications, software platforms, and electronic documents for accessibility compliance.

Strong knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1/2.2, Section 508, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and related accessibility standards and regulations.

Competencies:

Knowledge of:

Systems analysis methodologies, business process analysis, requirements gathering, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and quality assurance practices.

Digital accessibility principles, standards, and regulations, including WCAG 2.2, Section 508, ADA, and related accessibility requirements.

Assistive technologies, accessibility testing tools, and best practices for inclusive user experience design.

Skills in:

Evaluating websites, web applications, software systems, and digital documents for accessibility compliance using manual and automated testing techniques.

Reviewing and evaluating Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs), Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs), and other vendor-provided accessibility documentation.

Ability to:

Manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, work independently, and collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools

Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs

Talking-expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken words
