POSITION SUMMARY

The Product Engineer for Hendrix Power Cable (TRXLPE Insulated, 5-46 kV Power Cable) combines technical knowledge with cross-functional team interaction skills to support Power Cable product design and development. The Product Engineer ensures product functionality, compliance and manufacturability by engaging with Product Management, Operations, Engineering and Quality teams. They are Power Cable Engineering's lead for Hendrix R&D trials, product and material qualifications, and product evaluations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Designs fully compliant cables in accordance with Customer Specifications, Industry Standards, and Plant Capabilities.
  • Performs technical reviews of customer specifications and requirements.
  • Works closely with Quality team to ensure product compliance, root cause analysis, testing capabilities and other quality initiatives.
  • Supports Operations team, including Process Engineering and Procurement, with continuous improvement initiatives, material qualifications and evaluations, and process improvements.
  • Supports Commercial teams through technical education, technical support, customer visits, and marketing material development.
  • Supports and backs up Kerite Engineering team.
  • Maintains Engineering documentation such as product qualification reports, cable data sheets, and cable performance models.
  • Utilizes Voice of Customer to guide product improvement opportunities.
  • Generates R&D trial plans and test protocols.
  • Leads Power Cable R&D initiatives in the Milford, NH facility.
  • Provides technical support for manufacturing and testing of R&D's.
  • Generates and provides technical presentations.
  • Supports ERP system improvements, work instructions, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Supports the generation of BOMs and Routers of Power Cable products in the ERP system.
  • Analyzes ERP system data to support product related decision making.
  • Supports projects conducted through third party test agencies.
  • Contributes to the development of Industry Standards through participation of industry standard committees.
  • Researches competitor product offerings and industry trends.
  • Team oriented but can work independently.
  • Some travel required. Travel may include between MU facilities, industry conferences, customer visits, etc.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four-year Engineering degree, BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Experience in product design and manufacturing a plus.
  • Real-time problem solving capability.
  • Communicates effectively across various platforms, including in person, email, over the phone and remotely over video conferencing systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic project management.
  • Ability to support and lead project teams.
  • Ability to manage travel arrangements.
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing core tools is a plus.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be a team player. Able and willing to help the team achieve its goals.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office tools: Excel, Word, Outlook and Smartsheet.
  • Experience with High Voltage and mechanical testing equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively express ideas both written and oral communications.
