We have an exciting opportunity for an RF Systems Engineer in our Datalink Engineering Department. Under general supervision with limited review, this position is responsible for the technical and project leadership with initial focus on leading and coordinating the rapid growing business sector of satellite ground terminal systems, Identify Friend or Foe (IFF), VHF/UHF Radios, Search and Rescue (SAR) systems for MQ-9 Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) . Major areas include the overall technical leadership, subcontractor technical management, and coordinating with various stake holders for system support and deployment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) and technical leadership role for satellite ground terminal systems, Identify Friend or Foe (IFF), VHF/UHF Radios, Search and Rescue (SAR) systems to support UAV operations. Manage and work with subcontractor for the procurement, management, acceptance, integration, and test (in the lab and at the flight operations facilities). Develop drawings, plans, procedures, reports, and other appropriate documentation.
  • Apply technical knowledge to analyze, test, investigate, and resolve assigned engineering problems in the areas of Beyond Line Of Sight (BLOS) satellite datalinks and Line-Of-Sight (LOS) datalinks for Unmanned Aerial System (UAS). Work includes: RF components research, analysis, trade-off, RF link budget analysis, SATCOM Coverage analysis, lab and flight line testing and interfacing with various engineering functional groups.
  • Support satellite ground terminal systems deployment at various CONUS and OCONUS sites.
  • Perform datalink integration/testing with aircraft and satellite ground control stations over a RF environment.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelors degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Prefers experience in the following areas: RF Systems, RF Communications, Satellite Communications Systems, Antennas (SATCOM or LOS), Common Data Link (CDL), Tactical datalinks, VHF/UHF communications, IP Networked RF systems. Prior experience with preforming RF tests, Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, RF signal Generators, RF power meters, attenuators, power amplifiers, RF switches, RF combiners, and multimeters are highly desired.
  • Experience with Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) RF Communications integration is desirable.
  • Must have strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and eventually lead a team of less experienced junior engineers or technicians.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.
