"Role Overview
The Test Environment Consultant is responsible for evaluating an organization''s current test environment landscape, identifying gaps, and recommending improvements.
The consultant performs environment discovery, analyzes infrastructure and process maturity, and provides strategic recommendations to optimize environment utilization, stability, and governance.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct discovery sessions with QA, DevOps, infrastructure, and application teams.
• Assess the current test environment landscape including infrastructure, applications, middleware, and dependencies.
• Review existing environment provisioning, configuration, and management processes.
• Evaluate environment stability, availability, and utilization.
• Evaluate existing test environments and their purposes (SIT, UAT, Performance, etc.).
• Identify environment dependencies across applications, services, and integrations.
• Identify environment usage across projects and teams.
• Evaluate current practices against industry best practices for Test Environment Management (TEM).
• Identify gaps such as provisioning delays, resource conflicts, data availability issues, configuration inconsistencies, and environment instability.
• Assess governance models for environment booking, scheduling, and access control.
• Review environment ownership and support models.
• Evaluate tools used for provisioning, monitoring, and configuration management.
• Identify opportunities for automation using DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Provide actionable recommendations to improve environment stability, scalability, and governance.
• Define a future-state Test Environment Management model.
• Create a transformation roadmap and implementation plan.
• Prepare assessment reports and present findings to stakeholders.

"• Strong understanding of Test Environment Management (TEM).
• Knowledge of QA lifecycle, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Good to have experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Good to have familiarity with containerization and infrastructure automation.
• Understanding of test data management concepts.
• Strong consulting skills including discovery facilitation, stakeholder interviews, documentation, and roadmap creation.
Experience
• 8–12 years Test Environment Management, QA or Test Consulting roles.
• Experience with financial services and exposure to test environment management tools
Good to have prior experience in test environment modernization programs"
