Senior QA Analyst / Test Engineer - Azure File Sync
Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Analyst / Test Engineer to join the Azure Storage organization and support the Azure File Sync product-a hybrid service that enables customers to synchronize on-premises Windows file servers with Azure File Shares. This role focuses on owning testing, validation, and quality assurance efforts across deployments, customer scenarios, and ongoing product support.
Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and execute comprehensive test plans, scenarios, scripts, and procedures
• Test system changes and enhancements to ensure readiness for implementation
• Validate deployments and real-world customer scenarios for Azure File Sync
• Design testing programs addressing database impacts, software workflows, integrations, and usability
• Identify, analyze, document, and track software defects using bug tracking tools
• Collaborate with engineering teams to report issues, follow up on fixes, and verify resolutions
• Monitor defect trends, track test outcomes, and report quality metrics
• Create and maintain documentation such as test plans, test scripts, and test result reports
• Plan and manage testing schedules aligned with project scope and delivery timelines

Typical Day in the Role

• Execute hands-on testing for Azure File Sync features and updates
• Validate hybrid cloud scenarios involving Azure and Windows Server environments
• Review customer-reported issues and reproduce them in test environments
• Document results clearly and communicate findings to engineering and support teams
• Operate independently while coordinating with cross-functional partners as needed

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software testing or quality assurance
• 10+ years of experience working with Windows Server and Azure technologies
• 10+ years of scripting experience (any scripting language; not limited to PowerShell)
• Strong experience testing enterprise-scale software products
• Proven experience creating test documentation, including test plans, scripts, and test result reports
• Ability to analyze and interpret test results and recommend improvements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Education

• Associate's degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline) required

Disqualifiers

Interview & Assessment Process

• Candidates will participate in three 30-minute Microsoft Teams interviews
• Interviews are conducted without video, in accordance with external staff policy
• No advance preparation is required for technical assessments

Role Summary

The Senior QA Analyst / Test Engineer is responsible for end-to-end testing activities, including test planning, execution, defect tracking, documentation, and quality validation, ensuring a high-quality experience for customers using Azure File Sync.
