Since 1995, we have delivered over 12,000 unmanned air vehicles to the Department of Defense, allied nations, and commercial customers. We pride ourselves on being a lion-hearted partner, designing, building, and flying the most capable and intelligent aerial systems that give our servicemen an unfair advantage wherever they fly.

Position Overview:

The Junior Software Quality Assurance Engineer will support independent oversight of Griffon Aerospace's software development and verification processes for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). The ideal candidate is organized, objective, and comfortable working across engineering teams in a regulated aerospace environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review software lifecycle records for completeness, consistency, approvals, traceability, and compliance with approved procedures.
  • Assist with software process audits, work-product reviews, and milestone assessments under the direction of senior quality personnel.
  • Track audit findings, nonconformances, corrective actions, and closure evidence to completion.
  • Verify that software baselines, change records, problem reports, and release documentation are properly controlled.
  • Support reviews of plans, standards, requirements, test records, and configuration-management evidence.
  • Collect and report quality metrics, recurring issues, and process-adherence trends.
  • Maintain accurate quality records and support internal, customer, and regulatory audit preparation.
  • Promote adherence to software quality, safety, cybersecurity, and continuous improvement practices.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Quality Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of software quality assurance, software engineering, testing, compliance, or related experience.
  • Foundational understanding of software development lifecycles, document control, and configuration management.
  • Ability to evaluate records against documented requirements and identify clear, evidence-based discrepancies.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain complete, accurate, and auditable records.
  • Proficiency with common office, collaboration, issue-tracking, or requirements-management tools.
  • Strong organization, judgment, teamwork, and written communication skills.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. SECRET security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Internship, academic, or professional experience in aerospace, defense, UAS, embedded software, or a regulated industry.
  • Exposure to DO-178C, AS9100, ISO 9001, CMMI, MIL-STD-882, or internal audit practices.
  • Familiarity with requirements traceability, software testing, change control, and corrective-action systems.
  • Training or certification in quality auditing, process improvement, or software quality assurance.
