Senior Data Engineer - The role combines traditional data engineering with SSIS framework knowledge expertise with modern DevOps practices to build, maintain, and optimize our data infrastructure and pipelines.

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer who specializes in ETL processes, SSIS and SQL. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data solutions while ensuring seamless deployment processes and providing technical support for data-related issues.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Engineering & ETL Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using SSIS and SQL.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines to process structured and unstructured data
  • Develop automated data validation and quality assurance processes
  • Create and maintain data models, schemas, and database objects in MS SQL Server
  • Implement data transformation logic to support business intelligence and analytics requirements

Database Management & Optimization

  • Administer and optimize MS SQL Server databases for performance and reliability
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies
  • Design and implement data archiving and retention policies
  • Optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for enhanced performance

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide Level 2/3 support for data-related issues
  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues, pipeline failures, and performance bottlenecks
  • Collaborate with business users to understand and resolve data discrepancies
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for troubleshooting procedures
  • Establish monitoring and alerting systems for proactive issue identification

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with data analysts, business intelligence developers, and business stakeholders
  • Participate in agile development processes and sprint planning

DevOps & CI/CD Implementation (Nice to have)

  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps for data engineering projects
  • Automate deployment processes for SSIS packages, Python scripts, and database objects
  • Implement infrastructure as code practices for data platform components

 

Required Qualifications:

Technical Skills

  • SSIS: Strong experience with SQL Server Integration Services
  • ETL Development: Experience designing and implementing ETL processes
  • MS SQL Server: Strong experience with SQL Server performance tuning, and T-SQL development
  • Data Troubleshooting: Proven experience in diagnosing and resolving complex data issues
  • Familiarity with Git version control and branching strategies
  • Azure DevOps: Experience with Azure DevOps, including build/release pipelines, repositories, and work item tracking
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Strong experience designing and implementing automated deployment pipelines

Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Experience working in agile development environments
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
