About the Role
The team is building out its core engineering group in San Francisco and hiring a Senior Software Engineer (TypeScript / Node.js).
This is a high-impact role where you'll help shape both the backend architecture and how AI is leveraged across the development lifecycle. You'll have immediate ownership with clear runway into technical leadership as the team scales.
What You'll Do
Own and evolve a TypeScript / Node.js backend codebase with a focus on scalability and performance
Architect and manage cloud infrastructure (AWS) using Infrastructure-as-Code
Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
Design and develop APIs and backend services that directly impact end users
Leverage AI tools to accelerate development, improve code quality, and enhance engineering workflows
Contribute to and help implement agentic AI coding systems and AI-assisted development practices
Partner closely with engineering leadership and product to drive technical direction
Champion reliability, observability, and clean, maintainable code across the stack
What We're Looking For
5+ years of professional software engineering experience
Strong experience with TypeScript and Node.js in production environments
Hands-on experience building RESTful APIs and backend systems
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi)
Strong cloud experience (AWS preferred; Google Cloud Platform/Azure also relevant)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Docker, GitHub Actions, etc.)
Proven ability to take products from development to production
AI / Modern Dev Stack Experience:
Experience using AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, GPT-based workflows) in software development
Exposure to or interest in agentic AI coding systems, LLM integrations, or AI-assisted engineering workflows
Familiarity with building or integrating AI-powered features is a strong plus
Bonus Points:
Microservices architecture and/or Kubernetes
Experience in healthcare, data privacy, or regulated environments (HIPAA)
Startup or early-stage company experience
