Summary
We are currently looking for a COBOL programmer for a hybrid position who lives in Texas. The client's location is Huntsville; Texas must be able to go for meetings with advanced notice.
Candidates must be direct W2 candidates with eStaff, not sub-contracted through another vendor (C2Cs).
The project is for mainframe modernization and CITS. Information Technology with mainframe modernization and implementing CITS. Existing applications are primarily written in Java or COBOL. This person will be responsible for writing, analyzing, modifying, and testing COBOL programs.
Required skills
Must have experience with Cobol programming / JCL / DB2 / CICS / Microsoft Teams
Assess business requirements.
Analyze and design technology approaches and develop global architectures and technology solutions.;
Provide guidance and technical direction to team members, including training materials and presentations on relevant products and/or technologies consistent with Customer-provided guidelines.
Ability to work with others in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Ability to think critically; to recognize and anticipate a problem (technical, operational, process, organizational) and to identify and implement the best solution in a timely manner.
Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Knowledge of mainstream technologies and architecture.
Competency in core technologies, including open standards, database, and integration.
Preferred skills
· COBOL, Micro Focus, Visual Studio IDE, MS SQL database
